KEEP DENTON BEAUTIFUL

Help us Keep Denton Beautiful

We were founded on the belief that community matters most. Our teams work to engage local neighborhoods, businesses, and residents of all ages in creating an amazing city for all to enjoy. Join us in maintaining our vision of a clean, beautiful, and vibrant Denton!

For over three decades, we’ve partnered with families, neighborhoods, businesses, and community groups all over Denton to achieve our vision of a clean and vibrant city. Using the Keep America Beautiful model of community engagement, Keep Denton Beautiful (KDB) works directly with Dentonites to inspire positive change and provide residents the resources needed to leave a lasting mark on their home.

Get Involved Today

Volunteers are the roots of KDB. By donating their time and dedication, our volunteers give us the support needed to plant free trees, clean up unseemly litter, maintain local gardens, operate special events, and much more!

27th Annual Community Tree Giveaway

Saturday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m.–Noon

Keep Denton Beautiful (KDB) will offer free trees to Denton residents at the annual Community Tree Giveaway on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Community Tree Giveaway is KDB’s largest and longest-running tree distribution effort, and 2025 marks the 27th consecutive year of the one-day giveaway event. By participating in programs like the Tree Giveaway, Denton residents enhance Denton’s urban tree canopy and help our city thrive environmentally and economically.

To receive a tree, Denton residents must register online at www.cityofdenton.com/treegiveaway beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. There is a maximum of one tree per Denton household. Spots are limited on a first come, first served basis. Registration will close once all spots are filled. All trees must be picked up on Oct. 18.

A total of 700 trees will be distributed, with seven different species offered, all of which are drought tolerant, and native or well-adapted for Denton soils and climate. Available tree species include: Texas Redbud, Mexican Sycamore, Burr Oak, Drummond Maple, Dessert Willow, Mexican Plum, and Shoal’s Creek Vitex. Information about the available tree species, tree planting and care resources for this year’s giveaway can all be found at www.cityofdenton.com/treegiveaway.

On the day of the giveaway, proof of Denton residency will be required (I.D. or utility bill). Trees will be placed in vehicles by KDB volunteers in a drive-thru fashion to help quickly move traffic. For more information about the Community Tree Giveaway, including available trees and tree-planting resources, visit www.cityofdenton.com/treegiveaway or call (940) 349-8737.

Tree Rebate Program

Increase the value of your property and improve the livability of our city by planting trees! Denton utility customers can apply for a rebate for each qualifying native or adapted tree purchased. Visit www.dentontreerebates.com for step-by-step instructions, an updated list of qualifying trees, and to apply. Tree Rebate applications are accepted Oct. 1, 2025 through May 15, 2026 while funds are available.

To prioritize plantings in response to tree loss due to winter storms and the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Keep Denton Beautiful and the City of Denton are encouraging residents to purchase and plant larger trees with more rebate options. A tree rebate will be available in the following gallon-size increments. Rebate amounts are per tree size and limited up to 2-5 trees with a maximum of $500 total per applicant/application period.

5-gallon - $50/tree (up to five) 13-gallon - $100/tree (up to five) 35-gallon - $250 (up to two)

The Tree Rebate Program is part of the Denton Tree Initiative, a campaign from Keep Denton Beautiful and the City of Denton designed to increase Denton’s tree canopy by offering free trees, forestry education, and tree planting incentives to Denton residents, businesses, neighborhoods, and schools.
