The rest of that responsibility lies in her childhood. Ă I spent a lot of time in the woods,â reallyâ justâ being,â inâ aâ naturalâ environment,ââ saidâ Vonâ Haugg,â founderâ andâ director of Clarinets for Conservation. Whenâ Vonâ Hauggâ wasnâtâ busy being in the woods surrounding her childhood home inâ Eastâ Berne,â Newâ York,â sheâ was reading books about natureâandâconservation,âand

PLATTSBURGH Ă The Clinton County chapter of the Advocacy and Resource Center recognized Disability Awareness Month by giving back to the community. Theâ not-for-profiâtâ organizationâ collectedâ moreâ thanâ 3,000â poundsâ ofâ foodâ inâ Marchâ usingâ moreâ thanâ 35â foodâ collectionâ boxes set up at local businesses around the region. All of the food will be divvied between the Interfaith Food Shelf and the Joint Council for Economic OpportunityĂ s food bankâonâThursday,âAprilâ11. It is the second consecutive year the ARC has collected food for local food shelves. They also accepted monetary donations. âTheâbottomâlineâisâthatâaânot-for-profiâtâisâalwaysâseekingâsupport,ââ saidâ Kathleenâ Stygles,â directorâ ofâ Champlainâ Valleyâ Industries.ââThisâisâaâtimeâwhenâweâcanâsupportâtheâcommunity.â The ARC provides services to developmentally disabled individuals throughout Clinton County. Itâ isâ oneâ ofâ 51â chaptersâ ofâ Newâ Yorkâ StateâARC,â Inc.,â whichâ covers the entire state.
