More details on these games, along with ticketing arrangements, will be announced on our social media s over the coming weeks.

To accommodate these games, work has continued at the ground with the addition of a stand near the a dugout. Over the next week or so 60 seats will be installed in this stand. Around the same time a second seater stand will be installed alongside the home dugout area.

We still await two new 22-seater dugouts, which the FAW are supplying in readiness for the Under 19 UEFA E tournament to be held in June 2026. However, the FAW have assured us they will supply dugouts in some f for the November Internationals. In the meantime, we have to make do with the temporary dugouts which have in place for tonight It’s not ideal, but the FAW were aware we were demolishing our old dugouts in close season to allow us to amend the pitch specifications for the tournament

People are asking me when our new Clubhouse Function room will be open to the public. It will be used by FAW for the first time for the International matches in November, when the FAW will have control of the r for their duties It is my aim for us to be able to open it to the public shortly after these games

Tonight is the first time we will be able to use all of our twelve floodlights. Previously, we had eight floodli around the ground, and we have upgraded these to LED lights along with the four new ones, which are situ at each of the four corners of the ground These lights have a maximum capacity of 800 lux, which is requirement needed by UEFA for internationals, although for this evening we will be using them at 500 lux

You may also notice that we have added railings and gates around the players' entrance to the pitch, in orde give added security for the players and officials as they enter and leave the field of play The terracing at Myddleton College end of the ground will be completed in time for the November Internationals

Tonight, though, the focus is on this local derby as we aim to get back to winning ways after our defe fortnight ago at Guilsfield The Ruthin game is always one we want to win to claim the Vale of Clwyd brag rights

Enjoy the game

Welcome to Central Park for this evening’s local derby against Ruthin Town. It’s a game that players, coaches and supporters all look forward to. Winning the local derby over our archrivals Ruthin is a real incentive for us to go out and grab three points.

Ruthin come into the game on the back of a 3-1 away win at Holyhead Hotspur, which has seen them move up to eleventh in the JD Cymru North, some nine points below us. We are more than familiar with their threats, with Osian Davies, Llyr Morris and Harry Martin being key players that we must stifle from the start.

Our last outing was a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Guilsfield, where I felt we had so many chances to consolidate our 1-0 lead, and yet we failed to convert these opportunities. It was great to see us making so many chances, but the final touch just has to be better if we are to push on with our decent start to the season. A gap of five points has developed between the top four and ourselves, and we need a win today to catch up with these teams if we are to make any impression on the leaderboard. None of the top four play each other this weekend, so unless we win, that gap is likely to be extended.

I must give a word of praise to Ben Lockley this evening. When we beat CPD Y Rhyl 1879 at the start of the month, it represented Ben’s 100th consecutive first-team start for Denbigh Town Ben joined us in June 2022 from Conwy Borough and in that time, he has become a key player within our squad. To have 100 straight starts is a testament to how valuable we recognise him as a player who always gives 100% and has developed into a high-quality defender who sets a great example for younger players as to how play the game with his attitude and experience. It’s some record for an outfield player to start our last 100 consecutive games at this level of Welsh football

Nathan Brown was unavailable for our Guilsfield game, but he comes back into our squad. Nathan is our leading goal scorer with ten so far this season, with six coming in the league His last two in our 2-1 win over Rhyl were simply outstanding and helped us on our way to win where I’ll admit, we didn’t play well Rhyl had so many chances to take the points, and yet, once they missed a highly debatable penalty, the tide changed and Nay scored a brilliant goal by lobbing the keeper to equalise. Ten minutes later he snapped up a half-chance by firing from outside the penalty area to give us the win

Keelan Williams has returned to training following his planned operation which is pleasing to see He has had a difficult twelve months, and we hope he can put it all behind him and now concentrate on playing football. Sion Jones has also returned to the squad following his nasty leg injury at Penrhyncoch and was on the bench at Guilsfield and played for the Reserves last Sunday at Rhyl

This means we have a full squad to choose from for this evening’s game, which makes the selection process that much harder. Competition for places is good as it increases the intensity within the team for that first team selection and the aim of doing well and getting us the three points we want.

Diolch yn fawr.

MID WALES LOSING STREAK CONTINUES WITH DEFEAT AT GUILSFIELD

Denbigh Town let a lead slip as Guilsfield came from behind to secure victory at Clos Mytton.

Scott McHarrie’s first half strike was cancelled out ahead of the break before a soft goal allowed the mid-Wales side to take three points

Dewi Llion made two changes to the XI that beat Rhyl eight days previous with Nathan Brown unavailable and Danny Clarke taking a place on the bench, as Sam Duffy and Bobby Beaumont came in.

It took just 40 seconds for the first chance of the contest when Vaughan won the ball and slipped through Duffy who, one-on-one, was denied by the keeper

Despite the early opportunity, the game was a slow burner, with neither goalkeeper troubled until McHarrie won the ball midway inside the Guilsfield half on 18 minutes The midfielder burst through before finishing well to give Town the lead.

Denbigh could have made it two just before the half-hour mark when Dan Flanders’ throw was half cleared before it fell to Duffy who struck the ball towards goal before deflecting just wide. Two minutes later it was Guilsfield’s turn to launch the ball into the box as it fell to Jake Cooke to lash home on the turn and level the score

Both sides had pop shots from distance to see out the half whilst in stoppage time Beaumont’s effort was dragged wide, and both went into the break level pegging.

Much like the first half Town had a chance within a minute of the whistle, McHarrie won the ball in the middle before feeding it out to Vaughan but his effort from an angle was just wide of the mark.

After a positive start though Town found themselves behind just after the hour mark A pass back from McHarrie to Elijah Beattie was awkward and the keeper couldn’t get purchase on his clearance as it was intercepted and played to Sam Flory to finish inside the box

In the final stages Denbigh had to throw themselves at it and substitute Matthew Worrall had a couple of glimpses at goal where following neat build-up play the forward struck on the turn but goalkeeper Luke Evans was equal to it

In stoppage time Worrall weaved through the defence before his delayed effort was blocked, whilst a brilliant run from Brad Barnes saw him lash the ball just wide of the post as Denbigh couldn’t find a late equaliser

Subs: Wilmot, H Lockley, Payne, Jones, Clarke, Barnes, Worrall

Referee: Nick Davies

Attendance: 100

POTM: Dan Flanders - A solid performance from Flanders, who put in an impressive display throughout

Denbigh Town: Beattie, Beaumont, Flanders, B Lockley, Cooke, Doforo, Johnston, S Duffy, Brown, Vaughan, Dafydd

Denbigh Town Reserves ran rampant in a derby of their own last Sunday.

Liam Nash’s side made the short journey to Rhyl on Sunday where a quartet of goals ensured three points for Town at Belle Vue.

It took 35 minutes for Town to open the scoring when Rhodri Edwards fed the ball to Serhat Kanli.

Just four minutes later Jacob Duffy doubled the lead with his fifth goal of the campaign with Kanli turning provider this time.

Town could have been ahead by more if not for some wasteful finishing but took the lead into the break.

In the second half things continued as they left off but Town couldn’t find the third and fourth until the dying embers of the contest.

Kai Paolucci was shown a second yellow with six minutes to go and Denbigh took advantage, as Harry Lockley and Rhys Lloyd put the icing on the cake.

The Reserves are next in action in a Vale of Clwyd Derby of their own at Ruthin on November 1st.

Denbigh Town Football Club was formed in 1876 and have been one of the longest-serving clubs in North Wales.

The early years saw the club play in a number of leagues including the North Wales Coast and Welsh Senior League, as well as time in the old Combination

The club rose to fame in the 1920s when during the 1923/24 campaign, it won its first and only national honour, the Welsh Amateur Cup beating Lovell’s Athletic. The club went under different names throughout those years including United and Juniors before settling on Town in the 1950s.

Following the Second World War Denbigh clinched numerous honours before the golden period of the 1970s that saw the club dominate the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) winning four successive league titles.

After turning to the Clwyd Premier following the departure of successful manager John Trefor Roberts, the club shot back up the ladder upon the appointment of Bill Dawson who took the club from the Clwyd Premier to the Cymru Alliance in just four years

The club remained in the second tier for six years before returning to the Welsh Alliance but under Tim Dyer the club was promoted alongside a Cookson Cup success in 2007

In 2013/14 the club went unbeaten in the Welsh Alliance earning a third promotion to tier two after their return to the division in 2010. In 2015/16 the club reached it’s second national final and the biggest game in club history when reaching the League Cup Final, losing to professional outfit TNS on national television.

Upon relegation from the Cymru Alliance in 2019, manager Dewi Llion rebuilt his squad and in 2023 earned a league and cup double to move up to the JD Cymru North, finishing 6th in their first season back.

THE OPPOSITION RUTHIN TOWN

Capacity: 2,000

Nickname: The Blues

Founded: 1949

2024/25: 13th

Football in Ruthin dates back to 1878 when a football club was formed in the town and in 1880 they reached the final of the Welsh Cup only to lose 2-1 to Druids.

The club in its present form dates back to 1949 when they joined the newly re-organised Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) as Ruthin British Legion They joined division two, coming runners up in their first year and gaining promotion to division 1. The following year they were runners up in the top division. The British Legion element of the name was dropped in 1953 and Ruthin Town FC was born

In 1958 the club introduced a reserve team which entered the WNL (Wrexham Area) Division 3 The first team won the first division in 1963/64 and the North Wales Challenge Cup in 1967. The 1972/73 season was an exciting one for the Vale of Clwyd as both Ruthin and Denbigh were contesting the first division title Denbigh won on goal difference with both teams having won 18, drawn 7 and lost 3 Ruthin, however, won the North Wales Challenge Cup for the second time

In 1977/78 the first team were relegated from the first division which meant the reserves also had to go down from the second division The following year the club introduced a third team which played in the Clwyd league That team was later called the Colts as it joined the WNL (Wrexham Area) division 4 in 1980 The club run three senior teams to this day. 1979/80 was a big season for the club as both the first team and reserves were promoted back to the first and second divisions both as champions of their respective leagues A decade of stability ensued with the three senior teams establishing themselves in their respective leagues with their youth system being set up in 1986 This youth system was to be the making of the club providing a consistent source of players for the senior teams

1991/92 the first team were runners up to Wrexham Reserves under Glyn Williams and were promoted to the Cymru Alliance They also won the League Cup that year. Ruthin were ever present in the Cymru Alliance for a further 21 years before being relegated in 2013 Under Phil Hinchcliffe they won the WNL Premier League Cup in 2014 and matched their 1992 result in 2016 by gaining promotion back to the Huws Gray Alliance and winning the Premier League Cup for the second time in three years The club won the NEWFA Cup in 2018 beating Holywell in the final with Chris Williams as manager. Their best HGA league position was third place in 2003/4 under Tim Dyer As the second tier of Welsh Football comes under the wing of the FAW Ruthin were one the longest serving clubs in the Huws Gray Alliance having been members for 23 of the 28-year history of the league The club suffered relegation to the third tier in the 2010s but were promoted back to the second and have remained at that level since
