Since 1977, we’ve proudly supported schools across the United States with durable, easyto-use die-cutting machines and curriculum-based designs that bring learning to life. What began as one teacher’s solution to a classroom challenge has grown into a legacy that continues to empower educators to teach creatively, practically and with purpose.
Our History
Ellison® was founded by LaDorna Eichenberg, a California art teacher, and her engineer husband, Robert, who saw a better way to help teachers save time and spark creativity. Their first innovation, the Ellison Letter Machine, was designed to cut shapes quickly and consistently, transforming classroom prep and helping educators bring learning to life through visuals, displays and hands-on materials. It didn’t take long for Ellison® machines to become classroom staples, eventually making their way into over 80% of school districts nationwide.
From those early days, Ellison® has worked hand in hand with teachers, librarians and school leaders to create tools that support every aspect of learning. From alphabet and numeral sets to themed shapes, our dies have helped generations of educators capture attention, reinforce key concepts and make lessons more engaging and inclusive.
We’re proud to continue that tradition today with the return of a classroom favorite, the Prestige Pro Machine!
Back by popular demand, this much-loved classic has been thoughtfully reintroduced with the same strength, reliability and durability that made it a go-to for educators for decades. Built for high-volume use and compatible with a large range of Ellison® dies, the Prestige Pro is designed to support the pace and creativity of modern classrooms.

While education is where we began, we also expanded into the craft market with the launch of Sizzix® in 2001, our sister brand designed for creative consumers. Our mission, however, remains the same, to inspire through creativity.

Our SureCut dies are carefully created from genuine birch cutting block and laser-steel rule. Just like our Bigz™ dies, you can cut many different materials including cardstock, chipboard, leather and fabrics for a wide array of learning possibilities.
