Don’t Just Live Here, Lead Here The Del Webb at Dove Mountain homeowner membership will be electing four (4) homeowner candidates to serve on the Board of Directors (BOD) on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the annual meeting, to be held at 5PM at the Saguaro Center. The Election Committee will be conducting this election and will continue to provide homeowners with information and materials to assist them in making informed decisions regarding their selection of candidates. The Election Committee urges all homeowners to participate in this important process. The 2026 election is even more important than usual, with 4 of the 5 Board seats being open, and with postarbitration decisions needing to be made that could affect the community for years.

“I volunteered…because the HOA had recently taken over after Pulte was finished building, and from my experience in the past, I knew that transitions like this were complex and difficult. I was hoping to use my professional background and prior experience to help with getting things sorted out as we were in the early stages of figuring out what needed to be done, and how much "clean-up" we had to do to follow up on issues remaining after Pulte was no longer managing things.” “I ran for the board hoping that I could contribute something positive to the community.” Don’t just live here; LEAD here! Election Committee

The DWDM homeowner membership will also be voting on the Internal Revenue Service Ruling 70-604 for the DWDM community during this election. Information regarding this important community vote will be distributed soon. If you are interested in becoming more involved in your community, serving on the BOD could be a great opportunity for you. Please consider the following quotes from current and former Board members, about why they chose to run. “The BOD of an HOA is really important to the long-term success of the community. This is my community, and it takes many volunteers to keep it the kind of community I want to live in. I felt I had skill set that would be useful on the Board.” “In my working years I could never be on a board as my travel schedule would not allow me to. I wanted to be able to be a part of helping our community be successful. I knew I had a lot to learn about what it took to run a community, and this would be a great opportunity.”

Election Committee Information To learn more about the Election slated for 2026, go to: ourdovemountain.net > Board of Directors > 2026 Election.

Events and exercise classes are only paid by those who choose to attend the classes or events to keep HOA assessments lower.

Courtside Tips By Rod Dunnett, USPTA Elite Professional

Give the ‘Safe’ Signal A common flaw in many club players' backhand volleys is their tendency to chop down on the ball, allowing the racquet head to drop below wrist level. Usually, the result is a volley hit off-balance with so little pace and control that it catches the net. To hit a more effective backhand volley, keep your wrist firm and, instead of chopping down on the ball, flatten out your volleying motion. Think of yourself as a baseball umpire giving a "safe" signal when you hit the ball. As you punch forward on your volley, your free arm should extend away from your body simultaneously in the opposite direction to help you maintain your balance and keep your volleying motion crisp and compact. By hitting "safe" and sure backhands volleys, you will find yourself scoring more often at the net.

Strong for Everyday Life — One Mini Workout at a Time You do not need an hour at the gym to build strength. Every time you stand up from a chair, carry groceries, or reach overhead to put something away, you are practicing the kind of strength that helps you stay independent. That is called functional strength - the ability to move comfortably and confidently through daily life. The good news? You can build it right at home, in just a few minutes a day. Short bursts of movement - what I like to call mini workouts - can make a big difference. When done regularly, these simple activities help you stay mobile, maintain balance, and keep your muscles strong without overwhelming your schedule. Here are a few ideas to try: Morning Starter Do 10–12 sit-to-stands from a sturdy chair, followed by 10 shoulder rolls and a gentle stretch. You will wake up your muscles and joints before the day even begins. Midday Move During a TV break, do 10 wall push-ups, 10 standing side leg lifts, and a 20-second balance hold per leg. These moves strengthen your arms, hips and core - key areas for stability. Evening Ease-Out Before bedtime, do gentle ankle circles, a few slow heel raises, and deep breathing. This helps relax your body while keeping your lower legs strong and flexible. Even just 5–10 minutes at a time can boost your strength, balance and energy. The key is consistency sprinkling movement throughout your day until it becomes part of your routine. Functional strength is not only about lifting the heaviest weights or doing specific prescribed exercises. It’s about being able to do the things that make life enjoyable climbing stairs, playing with grandkids, or getting up from the floor with confidence.

Active Aging Specialist

If you have completed my Intro to Strength Machine Training course and at least six weeks of regular machine strength training, you are ready for the next step - my Functional Strength for Life program. This small-group training series builds on your foundation and helps you translate your gym strength into real-life ability. You will learn safe, effective movements designed to improve balance, coordination and everyday confidence. Remember, it is not about perfection. It is about moving more, moving better, and feeling stronger – one mini workout at a time.
