This year’s Boundary Bay Airshow drew the crowds Saturday with cooler temperatures and hot acts creating a great show. Pilots such as Vicky Benzing in her F-51 Mustang, and Yuichi Takagi in his Pitts Special, kept people staring at the skies. But many likely showed up to see the premier airshow attraction anywhere in the country, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. “The highlight of my day was when the sun came out right when the Snowbirds came out to perform, so that was pretty spectacular,” said Julia Rieberger, with Alpha Aviation. In the current climate, there was also a real sense of Canadian patriotism and pride with lots of maple leaves in the crowd, she said. “We’re proud to have a Canadian team.”
