De La Salle College gave me the opportunity to explore a wide range of interests — from earning my Recreational Pilot Licence through the VET Aviation program, to performing music, playing ACC soccer and taking part in the Cambodia Immersion Trip. Our Health and Wellbeing Centre is seamlessly integrated with our pastoral care network, including College Psychologists and educational leaders, who work together to create a comprehensive support system tailored to each student. Parents are vital partners in the journey, receiving regular communication and being invited to attend sessions to better understand and support their son’s development.
Guiding every step of his journey
From the moment students arrive, they are supported through thoughtfully designed programs, including a comprehensive Year 7 Transition Program, which ensures a smooth and positive start to secondary school life. Incursions around topics such as respectful relationships, digital wellbeing and cyber safety and anti-bullying strategies, help students build resilience, empathy and emotional intelligence. From Year 7 to Year 12, our educational journey evolves with each boys’ development. Designed to challenge, engage and inspire, it ensures every student doesn’t just attend, but genuinely belongs.
Years 7-8
Years 7 and 8 mark the beginning of an exciting journey at De La Salle College, where students are supported in navigating the transition from primary school with confidence and enthusiasm.
From their first day with us, our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for learning. Core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science) are complemented by electives introducing boys to Technology, Art and Music. We emphasise foundational literacy, numeracy and critical thinking skills, equipping boys with the tools they need to thrive in future academic challenges.
School studies are enriched with social, physical and creative co-curricular activities that offer students opportunities to foster a sense of belonging and indentity among their peers. Wellbeing is at the forefront, with pastoral care and peer mentoring programs ensuring every boy feels valued and connected.
Pathways to purpose Year 9
Year 9 is a time of transformation, exploration and growth. At De La Salle College, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, take on new challenges with confidence, and begin to shape a stronger sense of who they are. Each term is guided by a key theme — Identity, Stewardship, Futures and Legacy — that provides structure to their Year 9 Journey and encourages reflection, responsibility and aspiration.
A broad curriculum and real-world learning experiences, including city-based learning and outdoor programs, allow students to connect classroom knowledge with practical applications. These experiences also provide the development for informed subject choices in senior years.
The new Year 9 WISE Building includes purpose-built modern facilities for STEM, Food Technology and Visual Arts. These specialist spaces sit alongside contemporary classrooms and breakout areas, designed to support modern, collaborative learning and student engagement.
Students are encouraged to take on leadership opportunities, student voice initiatives and team projects, building skills in communication, confidence and cooperation. Wellbeing remains central, with programs focused on emotional intelligence, resilience, and positive relationships including mindfulness and values-based workshops.
Years 10-12
The senior years at De La Salle College are designed to empower each student to reach his personal best and prepare for life beyond school.
Pathways to Purpose in Year 10 begins the journey of self-discovery. During this crucial year, students refine their interests and set foundations for future studies. With guidance from career advisors, mentors, and pastoral leaders, students and families work together to develop a personalised pathway that reflects each student’s strengths and aspirations. With 54 elective offerings in Year 10, there are opportunities to cater to every student’s interests. Whether through the VCE – which can include VET – or vocational pathways like the VCE VM, students are encouraged to find a direction that resonates with their goals.
In Year 11, students move into Leadership in Action, putting their learning into practice by stepping into leadership roles within the College community and beyond. A rigorous academic program is complemented by extracurricular and leadership opportunities that build resilience, teamwork, and personal responsibility — shaping well-rounded young men ready to take on the world.
By Year 12 , students are focused on Living the Legacy they’ve worked to build. This final year prepares them for their next chapter — whether higher education, apprenticeships or the workforce. They reflect on the values they’ve developed and the impact they want to make as they step confidently into the world as leaders ready to contribute. Our approach to these senior years ensures that all students have access to pathways that suit their aspirations. The VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) promotes innovation, critical thinking, and creativity across diverse subjects. The VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) suits those inclined to practical learning, offering VET qualifications, apprenticeships and traineeships. This includes core studies in Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development and Work-Related Skills, with flexibility to pursue VET studies on-site or via external TAFE providers.

Co-curricular programs and community engagement
At De La Salle College, we believe in a rich and well-rounded student experience through an extensive range of co-curricular programs.
Our College is proud to be part of a network of Catholic Secondary Schools in the Associated Catholic Competition (ACC), where students have the opportunity to compete in sports, debating, art and technology exhibitions and music and drama performances. Additionally, we foster strong partnerships with local girls’ schools, providing students with collaborative and enriching opportunities across various activities, further enhancing their learning experience beyond the classroom.
Sport
Sport plays a vital role in promoting healthy, balanced lifestyles and fostering teamwork, resilience and positive social connections. At De La Salle College, we believe in the value of participation and the power of sport to help shape confident, well-rounded students. Each term, selected students across all year levels proudly represent the College in Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC) interschool competitions.
These events are held midweek and include both regular fixtures and one-day tournaments, offering students the chance to compete, challenge themselves and build school spirit.
Our comprehensive internal sports program provides a diverse range of options tailored to student interests and abilities. Opportunities include basketball, soccer, AFL 9s, lawn bowls, hockey, table tennis, cricket, lacrosse, volleyball, pickleball, strength and conditioning, yoga, boxing, ultimate frisbee and chess.
For students with advanced sporting ambitions, our High Performance Sport Program provides targeted development and support. We help student athletes pursue excellence while balancing their academic journey by partnering with leading professional
organisations, including St Kilda Football Club, Monash Villarreal FC, De La Salle Football Club, Basketball Victoria Future Development Program coaches, PGA golf professionals and the Melbourne United Sport and Business Program.
Drama
Our Drama program encourages creativity, confidence and personal expression. Through foundational training in imagination, teamwork, character development, symbolism and genre studies, students gain the skills needed to perform and create their own work. We offer collaborative annual productions, providing students with hands-on experience in both performance and behind-the-scenes roles.

Our Music program provides opportunities in performance, composition and music technology. In the early years, students explore various instruments, develop foundational music skills and participate in ensemble performances. As they progress, students refine their skills in diverse genres, digital composition and theory.
Senior students can specialise in performance or sound and lighting production, with VCE Music offering advanced pathways in solo and ensemble performance, composition and analysis. A vibrant ensemble program, private tuition, and extensive performance opportunities — including concerts, competitions, and an annual regional tour — ensure students thrive in a dynamic and supportive musical environment.
Debating and Clubs
Through our ACC partnership, students can choose to take part in inter-school debating, public speaking and pitch competitions, learning critical skills in argumentation, critical thinking and rebuttal. The College also offers a variety of student-clubs including Chess, eSports and Coding, providing spaces for students to pursue passions and develop valuable skills along like-minded peers.
Leadership
At De La Salle College, we believe every student has the potential to lead.
Formal leadership opportunities are available across all year levels, beginning with Year 7 and 8 Captains and Mentor Class Captains, followed by Year 9 Captains, House Captains, and culminating in the Year 12 Student Executive positions. Students can also take on specialist roles as Lasallian Arts Captains and Lasallian Sports Captains, encouraging active involvement in the College’s dynamic co-curricular life.
Leadership at De La Salle goes beyond titles. Students are encouraged to lead through example and action — in assemblies, liturgies, retreats, and across everyday school life. Camps, immersions, trips and tours
At De La Salle College, our progressive Camps and Immersion Programs are designed to build resilience, independence and strong relationships – core attributes of confident, capable young men.
From Year 7 to Year 9, students embark on a thoughtfully sequenced Outdoor Education journey, designed to challenge, inspire and support their growth:
Year 7 – A foundational Outdoor Education experience supporting students in their transition to secondary school. It focuses on team building, connection and a strong sense of belonging.
Year 8 – Wilderness Immersion: deepening personal growth and connection with nature
Year 9 – Mount Baw Baw and Thomson River: a five-day outdoor skills and experience expedition that challenges students to lead, collaborate and persevere.
These shared experiences form the foundation for lifelong friendships, personal growth and a strong sense of identity.
From Year 10, students can explore a broad range of Immersions, tailored to their passions and aspirations:
Languages – Two-week cultural immersion, alternating annually between Italy and France.
Sport – USA Basketball Tour, Sri Lankan Cricket Tour, Ireland Gaelic Football Tour and Spanish Soccer Tour.
Cultural – Domestic immersions to Central Australia and Far North Queensland, engaging with First Nations culture and rural communities.
Faith and Mission – The Sri Lankan Social Justice Immersion fosters compassion, cultural understanding and global awareness.
Music Tour – An annual performance tour across regional Victoria, celebrating student talent and teamwork.
Our Camps and immersion programs challenge students to explore the world and their place within it – developing leadership, empathy, and the confidence to thrive in any environment.
Master Plan – stage one
Stage one of the College’s Master Plan is well underway, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for De La Salle College. This significant transformation responds to the growing demand for excellence, innovation, and opportunity, delivering contemporary facilities designed to support the learning, wellbeing and development of our students.
Middle School expansion
The Kinnoull Campus is now a dedicated Middle School for students in Years 7 to 9. To support this transition, existing classrooms have been upgraded to create modern, engaging learning environments that reflect best practice in contemporary education.
A key feature of this stage is the specialised Year 9 WISE Building, featuring purpose-built spaces for STEM and Food Technology, alongside modern classrooms and flexible breakout areas.
The Visual Arts facilities have also been upgraded, providing students with high-quality, purposedesigned creative learning spaces. Recreation and outdoor areas are also being enhanced, including a new amphitheatre and outdoor spaces that encourage collaboration, creativity and connection.
Senior School redevelopment
Tiverton campus’ extensive landscaping will create dynamic recreational spaces, offering both active and passive areas for students.
The Senior School campus will also benefit from contemporary facilities for Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Product Design Technology, VET Building and Construction, VET Hospitality and STEM. This will transform Tiverton into a university-style campus, preparing senior students for success beyond the College.
Looking ahead – stage two
We are already planning for what comes next.
Stage two of our Master Plan will further enhance our facilities through targeted refurbishments to existing buildings, building on our recently upgraded classrooms across both campuses. We will continue to strengthen key areas including Performing Arts, Indoor Sport and VCE, alongside ongoing investment in our onsite Vocational pathways.
Our focus remains clear. To create purposeful learning environments where every student can grow, progress and confidently shape his pathway. This commitment sits at the heart of our pursuit of academic excellence.

The House system at De La Salle College is an important part of student life, helping to build a sense of belonging, leadership, school spirit and service. Every student becomes part of one of four Houses, each inspired by significant figures in our Lasallian tradition and shaped by its own values and motto:

The House structure encourages participation in key College events such as the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, interhouse competitions and fundraising activities.
