The Deer Park Animal Hospital is celebrating its 50th anniversary in August 2022. Now located 4320 East Blvd., the hospital was originally founded by Dr. Tom Godwin on West San Augustine in Deer Park. Subsequently, Dr. Don Lonsford began his practice in a renovated Shell station at the corner of Center St. and 8th St. in 1978 before purchasing Godwin’s practice in 2005. Dr. Lonsford now co-owns the practice with his daughter, Dr. Charmel Rodick. Dr. Lonsford will step back into a “mentorship” role later this year, and the current medical director, Dr. Dominique Gras, will become co-owner in his place. The hospital’s focus will continue to grow in technology and medical advancements, but their main focus will always be their excellent care of animals, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, wildlife, turtles, lizards and more. San Jacinto Monument
The San Jacinto Museum has launched a new way to explore the Museum and site: Top 25 Things to Do at San Jacinto mobile tour! The tour, which is in English and Spanish, identifies the top 25 locations and artifacts to see at the Battleground, and provides additional information and context for them, as well as rarely seen photos. The first seventeen items are located in the San Jacinto Monument. The other eight are located on the grounds and marked on map within the app. Use the tour to plan your visit before you come or view it on your smartphone while you’re here. It can be viewed on a desktop, but works best on a mobile device. Simply scan the QR code below to download the app.

Tours start shortly after the showing of Texas Forever!! Location: Gather in the main lobby of the San Jacinto Monument. Ask at the ticket kiosk to sign up.
