A New AP Course Built for Business Leaders AP® Business with Personal Finance reinforces the performance indicators and business and marketing decision-making skills central to DECA competitive events, chapter leadership, and preparation for state competitions and ICDC. It aligns to CTE Business Pathways, fulfills personal finance graduation requirements in many states, and offers students the opportunity to earn college credit in a course designed for programs like yours. Ready to bring it to your students? Let’s get started: cb.org/ap-deca
Six Steps to Get Started: 1. Build awareness now. Strong enrollment starts early. Now is a great time to introduce the course to students, families, and administrators as they think about next year’s schedules. Even a short conversation with students in your current classes can begin building interest.
2. Review the Course and Exam Description (CED). The CED is your road map. It outlines required content, skills, learning objectives, and the AP Exam structure so you can clearly see how students demonstrate mastery. Want to talk through scope and sequence or how it fits into your existing DECA or CTE program? Schedule a free 1:1 Zoom conversation with a course content expert.
3. Partner with your administration early. If the course fits your vision, begin conversations now about adding AP Business with Personal Finance to your 2026-27 course catalog. Since course codes, graduation requirements, and CTE alignment are determined locally, early planning ensures smooth approval.
4. Initiate the AP Course Audit. To label your course “AP,” you’ll complete the AP Course Audit to confirm alignment with required curricular elements. Once approved, students can receive AP designation on transcripts, signaling rigor and college readiness.
5. Request an APSI grant.
Bring college-level business to your students. Strengthen your CTE pathway. Expand opportunities for college credit.

APD-972
Launching strong starts with preparation. Eligible teachers can request a grant for free AP Summer Institute (APSI) tuition. Funds are limited and available through June or until distributed.
6. Register for an AP Summer Institute. Choose an in-person or online APSI that fits your schedule. You’ll receive 30 hours of project-based professional learning, detailed implementation guides, and ongoing support—so you’re ready from day one.

GREETINGS FROM KENTUCKY DECA Welcome to Louisville, Kentucky – the Bluegrass State, and to the Ultimate DECA Power Trip! If you’ve never been to Kentucky before, we hope you discover a few things while you’re here: our famous hospitality, some great food, a horse or two, and, if you’re lucky, someone saying “y’all!” Most importantly, we hope you experience what makes DECA so special. The Ultimate DECA Power Trip is more than attending sessions. It’s about connecting, learning and challenging yourself. It’s about meeting someone you might never have met back home and discovering you have more in common than you expected. And it’s about taking home new ideas that can make a difference in your chapter, your school and your community. So here’s your challenge for Power Trip: say YES to something new. Talk to someone you don’t know. Ask a question. Share an idea. Take a risk. Make an unforgettable memory! You never know how one conversation, one idea or one connection at a DECA conference might change your future. All of us in Kentucky DECA are proud to be your hosts. When you leave Louisville, we hope you remember more than the sessions you attended and the places you visited. We hope you remember the people you met, the ideas you shared, the laughs you had and the energy you felt being part of DECA. Get ready to CONNECT, LEARN, LEAD, and most importantly, discover your NEXT BIG THING.
