It’s hard to believe we are having our 20th Annual Sale this year! We are truly blessed to do what we love and are so thankful for our customer base that allows us to live this life. If you are new to our program, thank you for giving us a look and we hope to work with you this year or in the future!
Here at Cib’s Gelbvieh and Balancers, we demand our females to produce more with less! We continue to work at our goal to produce more pounds of calf with the fewest inputs and resou rces possible. With our extensive grazing system we use just about half of Iowa’s average acres per cow and still produce the offspring you see in this catalog. Our calves are NEVER creep fed at any point, this allows us to see their true genetic potential and identifies our highly maternal cow families that can raise big calves without artificial and extra inputs.
Our bulls are grown differently than most seed-stock producers. They aren’t raised in a feedlot setting where they only have to walk 30 yards to feed and water. They roam a 10 acre paddock allowing them plenty of exercise to make meat instead of fat. They aren’t pushed to try and achieve big yearling weights. They are raised slowly to ensure longevity and fertility. We want them to be able to cover lots of acres come breeding season. Our goal is to have bulls that last for you, our customers. We welcome visitors anytime prior to the sale to evaluate the offering! Bulls were pictured in December, so they have changed alot since then!

What a bull to start the catalog with! An outstanding son of the Big Stick bull we used heavily last year to infuse more Growth Fund blood into our herd. 5731N is out of the most eye appealing Balancer cow in our herd. When you see this guy in person you’ll instantly want to give him a good look over. Yes, he looks like a rock star, but that’s not all! You could call him a curve bender with his EPD profile. Top 15% BW, 35% CED and YW, and has several carcass EPD’s in the top 50%. We think he is a heifer bull prospect who won’t sacrifice the power and pounds on his calf crop. His dam has never missed to AI so fertility is bred into him. To be honest, I think his daughter’s could be his best contribution to whoever buys this bull on March 7th. Here’s a bull that hits you hard with his muscle shape, thickness, and overall prescence that screams, “I’m a stud and I know it!” This is Dustin’s bull that he’s pretty proud of, and rightly so. He’s nicknamed “Tank” around here. No explaination is needed once you see him in person. The Night Shift sons were very popular in our sale last year and we believe they will be again this year. 5233N was a racehorse in the growth category. 78# birth to a 1264 yearling weight to ratio 110. To be very transparent and up front about our stock, this guy has a low birth weight and ranks in the top 10% for BW EPD’s, but I would recommend he be used on cows only for the first year to see how easy his calves come. He’s a powerful dude who got a lot of looks while he was on display at the Cattleman’s Congress. Dustin has a full sister to him on the ground and he already has big plans for her. We are just thrilled he’s excited about raising good cattle!

• Bulls stay free until May 1st. $4 per head per day will be charged after. Take your bull home on sale day and get $50 off, plus $50 to have the bull semen checked. Buyers that choose to leave animals with us after the sale do so at their own risk. We are not responsible for injuries or death of animals that occur while left here.
• All bulls selling for $4,500 or more will have a 1st breeding season guarantee (90 days after turning out) and free delivery up to 200 miles.
• In the event of death of a bull during the first breeding season, a credit of 50% of the sale price will be applied at the next years sale. We recommend insuring your bull purchases.
• Seller retains 50% semen interest on all bulls selling, unless otherwise noted.
• All animals sell according to the AGA’s terms and conditions.
HEALTH INFORMATION
• Animals have received appropriate vaccinations and applicable boosters and have been poured.
• Bred females received a dose of Scour Guard 4KC on February 2nd or February 16th.
• Females were blood tested for pregnancy on July 2nd or July 14th. Due dates are estimates and are not guarantees.
• Bulls and heifers have been fed a Total Mixed Ration (TMR) developed by nutritionists at Big Gain (Northeast Feed - Ed and Steven McGarvey). Bulls are fed to gain a modest 3-3.5 lbs/day to ensure they stay athletic and sound.
