Business Communications students crushed their Career Exploration Unit by facing off in some high-energy peer interviews. Students took turns in the "hot seat" and the hiring manager's chair, getting some awesome real-world practice to level up their professional game!

THE WORKS 2026 COMPETITION

The team of Caleb Creech, Carter Cocke, Mario Valdes, Ian southerland, MAson Spann, Lincoln Spann, Carson Bryant, Wyatt Dawson, Griffin Decker, and Elliott Dulworth

The team finished 3rd. They completed an 8x8 build with plumbing and electrical, and also a resume and personal interview.

CJ 3 students explored blood typing, blood splatter, and all things forensic serology during their recent unit on blood evidence.

Computer Science Foundations (CSF) introduces students to careers in information technology through hands-on learning in coding, networking, web design, and cybersecurity. Students explore core IT concepts, ethics, and industry skills while preparing for future technology pathways.

After CSF, students take Computer Systems, gaining experience with hardware, operating systems, mobile devices, troubleshooting, and technical support Next, students advance to Networking, where they develop skills in network design, security, routing, switching, and troubleshooting for wired and wireless networks.

After Computer Science Foundations, students can take Coding I and Coding II to strengthen their programming and problem-solving skills. Coding I introduces programming fundamentals, coding logic, application development, and debugging, while Coding II focuses on algorithms, advanced programming solutions, and high-level programming languages through hands-on projects. Together, these courses prepare students for future studies and careers in computer science and software development.

SURVIVE THE CELEBRATION

Creek Wood High School hosted “Survive the Celebration”, a powerful emergency awareness drill highlighting the real-life consequences of impaired driving. Several CTE Students and organizations, including HOSA, Creek Wood Media, CJ, and the EMS program supported and documented the drill.

HUGE CONGRATS TO THESE CWHS AND DCHS EMT STUDENTS! THEY ARE NOW CSCC GRADUATES. THEY HAVE EARNED 16 DUAL ENROLLMENT CREDIT HOURS FOR COMPLETING THE EMT PROGRAM.

Anatomy Classes got outside in March to enjoy the warm weather and demonstrate understanding of the anatomy of the heart and the path blood travels through the heart!

Ella Cook, from our CWHS JAGTN program, received 4th place in Employability Skills at the National CDC Competition in Salt Lake City!!!!!!

Mechatronics II students are making a BETA robot for the National Competition, which will be held in Nashville this summer!

TSA WEEK

All TSA students gave their all and are already thinking how to come back twice as strong for next year. A special congrats to our STEAM-X middle school team, Chase Kirkham and Alden Adams! They are headed to Nationals in Washington DC this summer for Robotics and Drones, where they will not just represent the Steam-x CWHS afterschool program, but they also get to represent their middle school - William James.

These boys, along with others, have worked hard over the past few weeks getting these booths made, while anticipating the opening of the new shop. Creek Wood CTE students represented well at SKILLSUSA Tennessee. Students competed in Welding, Sculptures, Masonry, 1st Aid/CPR, Construction TEAMS Work, Criminal Justice, Job Interview, Drones, Mechatronics, Urban Search & Rescue Robotics, Automotive Maintenance Light Repair, JROTC - VEX Robotics, and even Courtesy Corp (Volunteers).

Careers Class

6th Grade – Career Awareness

An introductory course that helps students discover different career options, identify their strengths and skills, and learn about colleges, jobs, and employers in their area. Students also build teamwork, communication, time management, and goal-setting skills as they begin exploring future career paths

7th Grade – Career Exploration

This course builds on Career Awareness by helping students explore careers in more depth through self-reflection, goal setting, career research, and academic planning Students develop communication, teamwork, and time-management skills while learning how classes, activities, and experiences connect to future careers.

8th Grade – Career Advising & Planning

Students use their strengths, interests, and academic progress to plan for high school, college, and careers. The course includes career research, financial planning for college, and real-world learning experiences while helping students create personalized plans for future success

The WJMS CTE Class has spent much of the spring planting and caring for plants in and out of the schools greenhouse. The students pictured were planting Tabasco Pepper Plugs given to them by the CWHS Agriculture Department.

As part of their ongoing PBL Unit, William James Students learned about non traditional ways of gardening. The students constructed a “lasagna garden”, so community members could see that you can plant a garden anywhere with just what you have available.
