Master Plan Maps Out Downtown Improvements By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer DEEP RIVER
The newly developed Downtown Master Plan, centered on the Main Street area, was unveiled during a public presentation at Deep River Town Hall on June 22. The plan includes recommendations from town stakeholders and development consultants aimed
at making the downtown area more navigable and user-friendly for residents and visitors. The presentation was given during a special meeting of the Land Use Commission and highlighted the background research and progress made by the town’s planning consultant, Tyche, the master plan subcommittee and several town volunteers. The rec-
ommendations do not call for large-scale development along Main Street, but instead focus on improvements such as streetscapes, signage and sewer infrastructure. One of the plan’s major objectives is to better connect downtown Deep River with other parts of town and neighboring communities See Master Plan page 6
Full Sail Ahead Members of the Dry Pants Model Yacht Club sail remote-controlled model yachts across Plattwood Pond at Plattwood Pond Park on June 28. The club races on Sunday and Wednesday mornings throughout the season.
