Architect Selected for Firehouse Project By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Deep River officials have selected an architectural firm to design a new $8.9 million firehouse approved by voters in 2024, advancing plans to replace a decades-old building with significant structural and operational limitations.
The Firehouse Building Committee selected architectural firm TSKP to design the new facility, which will replace the current headquarters on Union Street that has stood since 1961. Committee members and department leadership have identified several structural, operational, and locationbased issues with the existing building, prompting the need for a new headquarters.
Committee Chair Zachary Machold said one of the biggest concerns with the current building is that it stands in both the 100-year and 500-year floodplains. Committee member Dave Berardis said the floor layout of the current firehouse, where trucks are parked, resembles a
