WPAC Proposing Facilities Upgrades By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
The Madison Water Pollution Control Authority is proposing upgrades to its 44year-old wastewater management facilities plan in order to improve septic system performance and address environmental and public health concerns.
Thomas Hansen, Chair of the WPAC, told The Source that the plan has been “essentially completed” and has been presented to the Board of Selectmen in its draft format. The authority is looking to hold a formal public meeting on the plan later this month with the prospect of adoption by the selectmen. If adopted, the plan will be submitted to the state Department of Energy
and Environmental Protection for the final stamp of approval before being implemented locally. Hansen said state approval is required given their financial stake in the plan. They previously issued a grant to pay for 55% of the study that informed the details and See WPAC page 8
