BOS Tables Housing Trust Fund By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Following significant public opposition to the proposed Affordable Housing Trust Fund ordinance, the Madison Board of Selectmen tabled the proposal Aug. 24 and sent it back to the Affordable Housing Committee for revisions.
Affordable Housing Committee Vice Chair Mark Edmiston said the committee will work to address concerns raised during the public hearing and hopes to present a revised ordinance to the Board of Selectmen next month. The selectmen made the decision during their Aug. 24 meeting, immediately following
a well-attended public hearing on the proposed ordinance. Several speakers said they supported or understood the need for more affordable housing in Madison but objected to provisions that could allow taxpayer money to be allocated to the fund. Residents
