Selectmen Approve Funds for Drug Task Force By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
The Board of Selectmen continued to express interest in doing its part to address challenges presented by the national opioid crisis at its May 26 meeting, when members approved allocating approximately $17,600 from the town’s opioid settlement fund
toward funding a “synthetic opioid drug education and awareness programming” initiative and a “Narcan Deployment Initiative” for the Madison Ambulance Association. The approval followed a presentation from Madison Youth and Family Services Director Scott Cochran on how town officials are looking to address the multitude of issues and educational opportunities surrounding the
opioid crisis, which has also affected Madison. Cochran informed the selectmen about a task force that has been assembled and consists of several town officials tasked with addressing an “urgent need,” he said, “to oversee the strategic allocation of funds and See Selectmen Approve Funds page 5
