Public Hearing Set On Feb. 11 for Train Station Platform By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Madison residents are invited to a public information session taking place on Wednesday, Feb. 11, to hear from state transportation officials on designs for a new platform at the Shore Line East Station. The project has been floated by the town
for around 20 years, according to First Selectman Al Goldberg. It was not until a couple years ago that funding for the project was obtained due to efforts from State Sen. Christine Cohen. The Madison Board of Selectmen discussed the project at a meeting on Jan. 13. At the meeting, First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons said “train service should improve in
Madison” with the construction of a second platform. “Right now, they have to skip us at times because there is no way to let people off on the northbound side,” Lyons said. “They have to go back into the train station when they’re either picking up or dropping off people right See Public Hearing page 9

Snow Train Coming A Shore Line East train arrives at the Madison train station during a snowstorm Jan. 25. The Connecticut Department of Transportation has proposed constructing a second platform at the station, with work potentially beginning in 2027 and being completed in 2029. Madison is currently the only Shore Line East station without a second platform, which forces trains to skip the stop at times when they cannot accommodate passengers on the northbound side.
