Branford Announces New Online Land-Use Permitting System By Pam Johnson Sound Senior Staff Writer
On Oct. 6, The Town of Branford launched new land-use permitting software designed to create a more user-friendly experience when applying for permits from the Town’s Building Department, Engineering Department, and the town’s new Department of Planning, Conservation and Development, which oversees Inland/Wetlands and Zoning.
The OpenGov software platform allows applicants to apply and pay for project permits; track application status in real time; receive application review comments and inspection findings; and access a public data base for parcel records within the land-use departments. The new permitting system was announced at the Town of Branford website on Oct. 3. Users can access the online service at branfordct.portal.opengov.com.
A brief statement from the Building Department at branford-ct.gov noted, “Navigating the permitting and development process can be complex for most applicants and we anticipate this implementation of a new platform will provide a more userfriendly and transparent process. This system will support and streamline the processes for various departments including;
