Northford Man Charged After David Lane Fire Staff Report

A Northford man has been charged with reckless endangerment following a monthlong investigation into a June 5 fire that triggered explosions, prompted a large emergency response, and renewed longtime neighborhood concerns about a David Lane property.

Robert Onofrio, 57, of 21 David Lane, surrendered to the North Branford Police Department on July 2 after police obtained a warrant charging him with first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the fire. According to police, officers and firefighters responded to the residence at approximately 1:58 a.m. June 5 after receiving reports of a

structure fire. Initial 911 callers and responding officers reported hearing multiple explosions, which investigators said were believed to have been caused by propane tanks stored on the property.
