Branford Committee Launches Bike Safety Effort By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer
Branford’s recently formed Bicycle Pedestrian Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is launching school bike safety initiatives and seeking public input on sidewalk and crosswalk repairs. In the fall of 2025, the town officially formed the committee to advise the town on
potential actions it could take to increase safe travel for those who use transportation methods other than cars, such as riding bicycles, walking or using scooters and wheelchairs. With the recent increase in outdoor activity around Branford due to the arrival of summer, the committee is working to make its presence better known in the community. Leslie Johnson, chair of the committee,
said the group has two current programs it is working on. “We are working on increasing our connectivity to the schools. We have been involved with a group from the state called Safe Routes to School and right now we’re working on being more involved with the middle school,” Johnson said. See Branford Committee page 4
