State Aid Adds $29.4M for Murphy, Tisko Projects By Laura Robida Managing Editor
Branford will receive an additional $29.4 million in state reimbursement for planned construction projects at Mary T. Murphy Elementary School and Mary R. Tisko Elementary School under the recently approved state budget, state officials announced March 28. The funding increases the state’s reim-
bursement rate for both projects, generating an additional $14.7 million in state support for each school. State Sen. Christine Cohen, D-Guilford, and state Reps. Robin Comey, D-Branford, and Moira Rader, D-Guilford, announced the funding at Murphy Elementary School alongside First Selectman Josh Brooks and Branford Public Schools Superintendent Christopher Tranberg.
The additional funding comes as Branford Public Schools advances its long-range facilities master plan, which calls for major investments in aging school buildings over the next 15 to 20 years. The district’s preferred elementary school option would renovate and expand Murphy and Tisko schools while eventually repurposing John B. Sliney
