Branford Man Arrested After 39 Firearms Seized Staff Report
A Branford man identified as the intended recipient of a firearm suppressor shipped from China was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his home and seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other contraband, authorities said. The Branford Police Department said it
was notified April 21 by Homeland Security Investigations that a suspicious package had been intercepted at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The parcel, declared as an automotive fuel filter, was found to contain a firearm suppressor. Investigators identified the intended recipient as Alexander Oranzo, 46, of Branford, who police said is a convicted felon prohibited
from possessing such items. Police developed an operational plan to conduct a controlled delivery of the package to Oranzo’s residence on North Main Street.
