Parade Route Shifts Due to Main Street Work Staff Report

One of the town’s most visible annual traditions will take a different path this year, as ongoing construction in the center of town forces changes to the Memorial Day parade route. The 2026 Branford Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 25, with open-

ing ceremonies and the parade start relocated to South Main Street behind Town Hall to accommodate the Main Street Reconstruction project. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. The parade will proceed west on South Main Street to Main Street and North Harbor Street before returning to the starting point.

The route change comes just weeks after major construction began April 1 on a sweeping overhaul of Main Street, a project that town officials have described as a complete reconstruction of the downtown corridor.

Donna Yanick, with JJ Lucarelli and Nico Lucarelli, look over an educational exhibit during the Branford Land Trust’s 20th anniversary celebration of Branford’s Fish Ladder on April 25. The event featured speakers, hands-on activities, and tours highlighting the Supply Pond fish ladder, which supports river herring migrating from Long Island Sound to Linsley Pond.
