Shove Appointed After Dunn Resigns from Town Council By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer
Republican Jerry Dunn has resigned from Clinton’s Town Council because of an expected move out of state. The Town Council approved the appointment of Mike Shove to fill Dunn’s seat on the council. He will be sworn in before the next meeting later this month. Dunn’s resignation was submitted Aug. 1 and was effective immediately. Dunn told the
Harbor News he is resigning because his house is on the market and he expects to move out of state once it sells. Dunn said he informed his fellow council members at a July council meeting that he expected to resign soon so they would not be surprised. The looming, long-planned move has left him feeling “bittersweet” about leaving Clinton, Dunn said. “It’s something that’s been on the radar for a couple of years, and this past spring my
wife and I decided it was time to put some feelers out there on what we could get for the house, so we put it on the market a couple of weeks ago,” Dunn said. While the house had not sold as of press time, Dunn said that between his career and the time-consuming sales process, he felt it was unfair to continue serving on the council. “I just can’t dedicate the time I really think
