Kate, DPW Bonds Head to Finance Board By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer
The Board of Selectmen has approved $11.5 million in bonding to pay for renovations to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and the public works garage. The proposals will go to the Board of Finance for approval and then to a town referendum in the fall.
At a July 14 meeting, the board unanimously voted to approve an appropriation of $11.3 million for improvements to the Kate and a bond authorization of up to $6.3 million to finance the appropriation. The balance will be funded by grants and capital campaign funds. At the same meeting, the board also voted to recommend an appropriation of $6.2 mil-
lion for reconstruction of the Department of Public Works garage and a bond authorization of up to $5.2 million to finance the appropriation. The balance would be funded by capital funds previously designated for the project by the town. Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl See Kate, DPW Bonds page 9
