Clinton Homeowners Face 14.1% Tax Increase By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer
According to data from the town’s finance office, the average residential property owner in Clinton will see a tax increase of about 14.1%, driven largely by a shift in the tax burden following revaluation, along with reduced use of fund balance and the recently approved town budget.
At a June 3 meeting following the passage of a $67,526,139 budget in May, the Town Council set the mill rate for the 2026-2027 fiscal year at 22.24. Clinton Finance Director Robert Tait said the tax increase reflects the newly adopted budget and mill rate. A home that paid $6,000 in property taxes last year, for example, would see its tax bill increase by about
$840 under the average 14.1% increase. Individual tax increases will vary depending on how a property’s assessment changed relative to the rest of the tax base. Residents can estimate their tax bill by dividing their new assessment by 1,000 and multiplying by 22.24. See Clinton Homeowners page 14
