Clinton Town Budget Passes, BOE Fails By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer
For Clinton, it’s just like old times. For the first time since 2018, Clinton voters rejected the proposed education budget but narrowly passed the town budget. A revised education budget will go to a public
hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, and a second referendum will be held Wednesday, May 27. At the referendum, voters overwhelmingly rejected the education budget by an 852-646 margin, 57% to 43%, while the town budget barely passed by a 757-741 vote, 51% to 49%. The rejected education budget totaled
$44,788,204, a $1,921,708, or 4.5%, increase. The town budget is set at $23,237,935, a $317,014, or 1.36%, decrease from the current budget. School officials previously cited rising health insurance and contractual costs See Clinton Town Budget page 15
