Town Council Forwards Budgets To Referendum, Declines New SRO Request By Eric O'Connell Staff Writer

Following a well-attended public hearing, the Clinton Town Council slightly adjusted the proposed town budget, but did not agree to add the controversial new School Resource

Officer position to the budget. The proposed town and education budgets go to a referendum on Wednesday, May 13. At a Town Council meeting immediately following a public hearing on April 20, the council unanimously voted to forward both a town budget of $23,237,935 — a $317,014 or

1.36% decrease — as well as an education budget of $44,788,204 — a $1,921,708, or 4.5% increase — to a referendum scheduled for Wednesday, May 13. Under the proposal, the total proposed See Town Council page 8
