Town Eyes Property for New Police Headquarters By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Guilford town officials have endorsed a plan to purchase a new property for the construction of a new Guilford Police Department headquarters. A Town Meeting has been scheduled for Sept. 15 at Guilford High School to consider the purchase. The meeting will focus specifically on the
property acquisition portion of the overall project, whose current timeline calls for completion of a new police station by the end of the decade. The property is owned by the dissolving financial consulting firm Prospector Financial and is located within the same public safety complex on Church Street as the current police and fire department facilities. The agreed-upon purchase price is $1.77
million, according to First Selectman Matt Hoey. Hoey said Prospector Financial approached the town several months ago about its plans to close, leading to what he described as a “due diligence process” and negotiations supported by the town’s Land See Town Eyes Property page 10
