Police to Receive New Cameras, Tasers By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
In the interest of improving services and public safety, the Guilford Police Department will receive new technology through a 10year plan that will also resolve current liability issues with its current technology vendor and prove more cost-effective in the future.
The department received approval from the Board of Selectmen to enter into the decade-long plan with Axon Enterprises at the board’s July 7 meeting. Axon will provide officers and other police personnel with new body-worn and fleet cameras, as well as new Taser devices and associated training. The contract, which is valued at more than
$1.8 million over the 10-year period, locks in pricing for the police department at a lower cost than if routine requests for the same purchases were made to town leadership, according to Police Chief Christopher Massey. Given that benefit, especially with See Police to Receive page 9
