State Awards $860K for Marina Dredging By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Following a lengthy and complex approval process, Guilford town officials, state legislators, and members of the Connecticut Port Authority gathered July 7 to celebrate the long-awaited award of $860,000 in state funding to reimburse the town for dredging work at the Guilford Marina.
First Selectman Matt Hoey called the funding a “cooperative win” between the town and the state and thanked the Connecticut Port Authority, the Guilford Marina Commission, and state Sen. Christine Cohen for their support. Hoey said receiving the reimbursement is especially significant because securing state funding for dredging projects can be a
lengthy and difficult process. Michael O’Connor, executive director of the Connecticut Port Authority, said projects such as the Guilford Marina dredging are good examples of why the agency’s funding process emphasizes transparency and accountability. See State Awards $860K page 9
