Selectmen Approve $1.7M in School Repairs By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
The Board of Selectmen has approved more than $1.7 million for facilities improvements at Elisabeth C. Adams Middle School and Melissa Jones Elementary School to address roof and heating system issues. The board approved the funding at its
June 15 meeting after hearing from Guilford Public Schools Director of Operations and Facilities Clifford Gurnham about the condition of both schools. Gurnham said the school district is seeking a partial roof replacement at Adams Middle School, specifically over the gymnasium. The district received four bids, which were reviewed by the Standing Building
Committee. The committee recommended awarding the project to the lowest bidder, Silktown Roofing, and the town approved a contract of more than $1.2 million. Gurnham estimated the gymnasium project will replace about 25% of the school’s roof. See Selectmen Approve page 9
