BOE Cuts $525K From Education Budget By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
The Guilford Board of Education has followed through on requests from the town Board of Finance to cut $525,000 from the next fiscal year budget for Guilford Public Schools. While some of the cuts—the bulk of which are found in staffing and associated
special education needs—are of concern for the school district, its leadership is confident it can work within the constraints of the revised budget. The cuts were made at a special meeting on May 5, one week after the initial budget referendum for both the town operating and education budgets failed to pass. The Board of Finance asked both the Board of Select-
men and Board of Education to find a total of $750,000 in cuts within their respective budgets, most of which came from education.
