Officials Cut Budget After Failed Referendum By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Town officials found $225,000 in cuts to the proposed 2026-2027 fiscal year budget, reducing it to a newly proposed $128,663,203 in annual expenditures from Guilford Town Hall. The $225,000 includes a $10,000 reduction
in capital funds that were intended for computer system upgrades at Guilford Free Library. The reduced budget will also lower the proposed tax increase. Accounting for the reductions, the new mill rate would be 28.6, translating to a 3.44% tax increase. The initial proposal called for a 4.08% increase. The total amount of cuts across the townwide budget by the Board of Finance, includ-
