Hoey Supports Shift in Education Funding By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
First Selectman Matt Hoey is backing proposed state legislation aimed at increasing education funding for towns like Guilford, saying the measure could help ease the burden on local taxpayers.
The legislation, known as Senate Bill 7, or “An Act Concerning Educational Equity,” seeks to restructure the formula used to determine Education Cost Sharing (ECS) grants for municipalities. Hoey supports the passage and implementation of the bill, describing it as “important to me” and “important to the citizens of Guilford.”
In a video statement regarding SB 7 provided to the Guilford Courier, Hoey said the bill presents “an opportunity for us to put equity back into the system and to take care of our children.” His statement continued, “All of the See Hoey Supports page 10
