PHẦN I: PHẦN MỞ ĐẦU 1. Lý do chọn đề tài Trong xu thế toàn cầu hóa và công nghệ hóa ngày nay, tầm quan trọng của tiếng Anh là không thể phủ nhận và bỏ qua vì tiếng Anh được sử dụng ở mọi ngành nghề, mọi lĩnh vực và mọi nơi trên thế giới. Do đó, việc biết và sử dụng được tiếng Anh giúp chúng ta trở nên năng động hơn trong môi trường xã hội, tự tin hơn trong giao tiếp và luôn muốn khám phá những nền văn hóa của các đất nước trên thế giới. Đồng thời, chúng ta cũng có thể bắt kịp với xu thế và trở thành những cư dân toàn cầu. Nắm bắt được những lợi thế đó, học sinh cần có những mục tiêu và quyết tâm hơn nữa để có thể học và sử dụng tiếng Anh tốt. Nói tới việc học tiếng Anh thì mỗi người có một cách học riêng ở từng giai đoạn khác nhau nên khó có thể nói cách học nào là tốt nhất và hiệu quả nhất. Nhưng là một giáo viên tiếng Anh, tôi thấy thực trạng học sinh thường học các từ theo ý nghĩa riêng lẻ của nó mà không để ý tới ngữ cảnh và cách sử dụng hay cách sắp xếp các từ với nhau sao cho đúng. Do vậy, học sinh có thể biết từ nhưng vẫn thường gặp khó khăn trong việc sử dụng. Chính vì lí do đó, tôi nghĩ thực sự cần thiết để học sinh ngoài học các từ đơn lẻ thì cần học theo các cụm từ thường đi với nhau hay chính là collocations. Ví dụ như cụm từ “kết bạn”, học sinh cần biết nói là “making friends” chứ không nói “getting friends”. Khi học sinh dùng đúng những cụm này thì cách diễn đạt sẽ tự nhiên, gần với người bản ngữ hơn. Hơn nữa, trong cấu trúc đề thi THPT quốc gia cũng có các câu hỏi về phần collocations, nên tôi quyết định chọn viết chuyên đề về những collocations phổ biến, hay gặp và hay được sử dụng trong đề thi THPT quốc gia. 2. Mục đích của chuyên đề Khi viết chuyên đề này, tôi hy vọng được đóng góp thêm một vài ý kiến của mình về các vấn đề liên quan đến “collocations” trong tiếng Anh, những collocations phổ biến hay có trong chương trình sách giáo khoa 12 cũng như hay có trong đề thi. Do đó, tôi thực sự mong chuyên đề sẽ là tài liệu tham khảo thêm hỗ trợ giáo viên trong công tác bồi dưỡng học sinh ôn thi THPT quốc gia ngày càng đạt hiệu quả hơn, đáp ứng yêu cầu giáo dục chất lượng cao và đổi mới giáo dục. 3. PHẦN II: NỘI DUNG A. LÝ THUYẾT VỀ COLLOCATIONS I. KHÁI NIỆM VỀ COLLOCATIONS
Collocation là cách thức các từ kết hợp với nhau trong một ngôn ngữ nhằm tạo ra lời nói và câu viết tự nhiên. Chẳng hạn make/ repeat/ correct/ fix a mistake, take a bath hoặc have a shower. Có thể học sinh thường gặp chúng nhưng không nhận ra chúng vốn được kết hợp như vậy. Collocation quan trọng vì chúng chiếm tỷ lệ lớn trong tiếng Anh hằng ngày. Vì vậy việc lựa chọn đúng cụm từ giúp người học diễn đạt một cách tự nhiên, đa dạng và dễ hiểu như người bản xứ. Chúng ta không thể tùy tiện kết hợp các từ với nhau. Đây là một ví dụ cụ thể: Hầu hết người Anh bản địa sử dụng từ heavy rainy (mưa nặng hạt) và cho rằng từ heavy phải kết hợp với rain thì mới thích hợp. Để diễn tả gió lớn, người bản xứ dùng strong wind. Một ví dụ khác: Một số từ được kết hợp với nhau theo một trật tự riêng. Người ta luôn nói “Ladies and Gentlemen”, “right or wrong”. Không ai nói “Gentlemen and Ladies” hay “wrong or right”. II. CÁC LOẠI COLLOCATIONS
Có một vài hình thức khác nhau được tạo thành từ sự kết hợp giữa động từ (Verb), danh từ (Noun) và tính từ (adjective). Có một số hình thức phổ biến như sau: •
adverb + adjective: completely satisfied (NOT downright satisfied)

adjective + noun: excruciating pain (NOT excruciating joy)
•
noun + noun: a surge of anger (NOT a rush of anger)
•
noun + verb: lions roar (NOT lions shout)
•
verb + noun: commit suicide (NOT undertake suicide)
•
verb + expression with preposition: burst into tears (NOT blow up in tears)
•
verb + adverb: wave frantically (NOT wave feverishly)

V. PHƯƠNG PHÁP HỌC COLLOCATIONS MỘT CÁCH HIỆU QUẢ Collocations là một phần khó nhưng không có một quy luật nào cho các colloctions cả. Chính vì vậy, cách duy nhất là học sinh phải ghi nhớ chúng. 1. Học những từ nào đi cùng nhau khi học từ vựng. Khi học từ mới, học sinh không chỉ học những từ riêng lẻ và nghĩa của chúng bằng tiếng Việt mà học sinh cần nhớ những cụm từ có chứa từ mới đó để có thể sử dụng nó một chính các và tự nhiên. Lấy ví dụ trong câu” The company said it had made a profit of about $1.4 billion on the deal”. Nếu học sinh chỉ học từ profit nghĩa là lợi nhuận thì nó chỉ được thêm vào vốn từ vựng thụ động và khó khăn hơn trong việc sử dụng. Nhưng nếu học sinh ghi nhớ cả cụm từ “make a profit” thì khi gặp một vấn đề nào đó liên quan, học sinh có thể nhanh chóng đưa ra cụm từ phù hợp vói ngữ cảnh. 2. Ghi chú lại những collocations trong khi đọc, nghe, làm bài tập Trong quá trình học ( đọc, nghe, làm bài tập, …) nếu gặp các collocations thì các em cố gắng ghi chú lại (note, hightlight) các collocations mình học được. - Sử dụng bút dạ quang hightlight lại những collocations trong bài đọc. Nếu chúng ta không biết nghĩa thì có thể tra ngay trong từ điển về collocations. Các em có thể tra collocations trong cuốn từ điển Oxford collocation dictionary Các em có thể dễ dàng tải cuốn từ điển đó ở trang web: https://goo.gl/9X5xr2 về máy tính để tra. Ngoài ra, để thuận tiện các em có thể truy cập trang trang ozdic để tra: https://www.ozdic.com/ hoặc cài ứng dụng Collocation dictionary (ozdic, oxford...) vào trong điện thoại của mình. - Kẻ bảng có 3 cột: collocations- nghĩa-ví dụ để ghi lại các collocations cho bản thân.’ - Các bảng có thể chia thành các topic khác nhau Như money, food, education, … Ví dụ như về money:
