Sam Skinner Retires from Darley Board of Directors Samuel K. Skinner joined the Darley Board of Directors in 2007 and will be retiring at the end of this year. Mr. Skinner has had a distinguished career in both the government and private sectors. As an attorney, he consulted clients in a variety of areas including strategizing on complex litigation matters, state and federal regulatory matters, governmental matters, transportation issues and corporate governance. Skinner is the retired chairman, president and chief executive officer of USF Corporation, one of the nation’s leading transportation and logistics companies. During each year that he served as CEO, the company was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of America’s most admired companies. He also Sam Skinner served served from 1993-1998 as president of Commonwealth Edison Company and on Darley’s Board its holding company Unicom Corporation, one of the country’s largest utilities. of Directors from Prior to joining Commonwealth Edison, Skinner served as chief of staff to 2007-2022. President George H. W. Bush. As chief of staff, he coordinated the activities of numerous cabinet departments and administrative agencies reporting to the president. Prior to his White House service, he served in the President’s Cabinet for nearly three years as secretary of transportation. In that capacity, he served as chief executive officer of a department with a budget of over $30 billion and a workforce of 105,000 people. In 2005, Skinner was appointed by President George W. Bush to be a member of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission. Skinner has spent more than 20 years in the legal profession. In 1975, President Gerald R. Ford appointed him the United States attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. While in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Skinner investigated and successfully litigated various complex financial fraud, official corruption and civil rights cases, including the trial of United States Circuit Judge Otto Kerner. He also was in private practice at two large Chicago law firms where he held positions of leadership. Paul Darley, chairman of the board at Darley, commented, “Sam’s contributions to us over his 15 years have been immeasurable. He has helped us navigate waters in Washington D.C., and he served as a great mentor who helped to professionalize our company. He always called it like he saw it, in a respectful manner. He will be missed.” Skinner served as an adjunct professor of management and strategy at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where he taught a course on leadership. Of his time at Darley, Skinner laughed, reflecting, “I met Paul Darley at a funeral in 2005, and before long he chased me down to join the Darley Board. It has been a rewarding experience to work with an amazing family that truly cares about serving our country’s warfighters and firefighters.” Darley has begun its search for a new board member. “Sam’s shoes won’t be easily filled, but we’ve already identified an amazing pool of candidates who we are interviewing,” said Darley.
10 Year Pump Warranty - Longest in the Market Darley has increased the standard warranty on split-shaft and PTO-driven pumps as well as accessories to 10 years, 10,000 hours. This is the longest and most comprehensive warranty in the fire pump market! Under this warranty, Darley will also cover labor charges on all pumps for a period of three years from the date the pump is placed into service. Portable and engine driven pumps will carry a three-year warranty which matches the engine warranties. This warranty applies to any pump shipped after September 1, 2022, and applies to all pumps shipped in North America. NEW According to Lairy Normand, customer service manager, “This is by far the most comprehensive warranty in the fire pump market. Despite building thousands of pumps per year, Darley receives few warranty claim requests and our total warranty costs are a small fraction of our sales.” Darley does offer extended warranties available for an additional charge.
