Moving between the energy of the holiday shows and the deeper research of my PhD courses has clarified something for me art isn’t only something we “produce” It’s something we notice, follow, and slowly learn to trust So, grab a coffee (or tea). I’m taking you behind the scenes of my studio and into the quiet psychology of why I create
FROM SILENT STONES TO GALLERY WALLS

The end of 2025 didn’t feel like a closing chapter it felt like a season of movement. I measure those weeks less by dates and more by one moment I kept seeing again and again: someone stopping in front of a painting and actually staying with it. The shows came quickly CAW Ready to Hang, the SBAA Faulkner show, Voice Gallery’s Sunshine and Blue and Begin, and the LCCCA 6th Anniversary Art Walk. The schedule was full, but what stayed with me wasn’t the busyness It was the quiet shift that happens when a painting lands when the work becomes real because someone else is present with it If you brought one of my pieces home during the holidays, thank you That act matters more than people realize. You didn’t just “buy art.” You gave a vision a place to live
I’ve been working at a more intimate scale less about spectacle, more about concentration
Two small series have been taking shape: UndreamedVisions
These pieces live right at the edge where a dream starts to rise into waking life before it becomes a neat story.
ConversationwithaStone
This series is centered on semi-precious stones their weight, their color, their symbolic presence Not as decoration, but as something grounding.
I think of these as pocket-sized meditations, a work you can live with closely pieces that steady a room, and sometimes steady a mind.

When the busy season settled, my studio did something different: it got smaller and more focused.

If you ever wonder why I spend long studio days chasing something I can’t fully name yet, it’s because of what happened around Christmas
During the SBAA Faulkner show, I received a phone call about one of my favorite pieces, The Undreamed Garden. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. The message was brief and a little cryptic and we all know how much noise exists online now I almost ignored it.
But the person followed up It turned out he wasn’t a scammer at all he was trying to find the right piece as a holiday gift. The painting sold, and I assumed that was the end of the story.
Then on Christmas morning, I received a message from the woman who had just unwrapped it. She told me that when she first saw The Undreamed Garden in the gallery show, she felt a strong connection to it quiet but unmistakable. She didn’t expect to see it again. And then it appeared under her tree. That’s the part of art that still amazes me: the way a painting finds the person who recognizes it. I paint to build a bridge between my inner landscape and yours To that collector: thank you for reminding me why this work matters.

I’m also back at Pacifica Graduate Institute, co-teaching a PhD course with Professor James Broderick We’ve been exploring how symbols shape the psyche and how images carry meaning across time
This directly feeds my painting. I’m not just placing shapes on a surface I’m paying attention to what returns: memory, fear, longing, transformation. When a symbol appears in my work, it’s rarely accidental it’s part of a longer conversation.
If you’re curious, you can explore the project and research at PsychologyandSymbols.com.

I have launched YouTube chanel @innercanvasbydanuta to talk about the “why” behind my work, not just the finished images
January has been a month of practice for me showing up more openly and learning as I go For some, social media is mainly about visibility and gaining followers That’s valid too but for me, it functions more like an art journal. It’s honest, imperfect, and surprisingly helpful If you’ve ever wanted to step a little closer to the work how it’s held, how it’s thought about, what it’s asking I’d love to have you there. I hope you you forgiv me the imperfections as I learn.
WHERE WE MEET NEXT

The next chapter is taking shape in a way that feels both exciting and deeply right for the work. You’ll soon be able to see my paintings in two new places each with its own rhythm and way of viewing

LosOlivosGallery
I’ve been accepted as a member of Los Olivos Gallery, and I’ll be showing a selection of smaller works there soon This matters to me because these pieces are built for closeness They’re the kind of paintings you don’t read from across the room you meet them the way you meet a small object with meaning: by leaning in, noticing texture, letting the surface reveal itself slowly. Los Olivos feels like a natural home for that kind of looking.

Memories
These last few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on memory and how it moves through the work Some paintings seem to stay open, continuing to shift in meaning depending on when and how you return to them That sense of ongoing life beyond the making, beyond the first impression feels important to me

Imaginations
This month’s spotlight on my social media channels is Butterfly Dream, a piece that carries unique presence You can find the inspiration behind it on my Instagram and Facebook, where it will be featured during the first week of March
