DARLINGS
A cult-classic that was once misunderstood, EARTHBOUND puts other games to shame with it’s unequal charm and aesthetics!
RELEASED in June of 1995 for the SNES (1994 in Japan) EarthBound is now considered one of the best RPGs for it’s console, rivaling games such as Final Fantasy III and even Chrono Trigger! Despite the modern apreciation of this classic, this game didn’t sell that well back in its day.
THE game’s poor marketing campaign and its goofy theming didn’t really land well to the american palete, who some even considered it graphics to be closer to
terms of looks. The unique charm and writting didn’t really matter because there were adventures grander in scope and with graphics to kill for, so why would they bother with this smelly thing?
DESPITE the basic look of this game, EarthBound has charm that has not been matched, being a buffet of Americana with a story that captures the glorified life of an american boy. The battles and special effects unique too, as they can only be described as psychodelic!
EARTHBOUND still holds significanly well, and from my experience, it is a joy to play it, there is no way of explaining the style and charm that this game just oozes, it’s just so unique and exhilarating!
THIS game is an experience that is still shaping modern RPG games due to it showing that you can do so much more than basic epic fantasy. Sometimes the mundane aspects can become extraordinary!
“An Incredible New Adventure Where Mystery and Rule!”Mayhem
A goofy yet content-rich adventure that defines what Mario games should be like. Super Mario RPG is a consistently fabulous story!
Super Mario RPG, developed by Square and published for the SNES back in 1996 (1995 in japan). The last mario game for the SNES, this adventure sure does deliver! As Mario works to repair the Star Road, he teams up with heroes and unlikely allies to help dethrone Smitty, a mysterious antagonist that pulls the strings from the Shadows.
There isn’t a single moment where this game doesn’t entretain. There is always something to do and things to interact with, having content that could easily be stretched, but is rather compacted into a relatively, yet fun adventure!
This game has been a beloved entry in the Mario RPG genre, and the constant support has lead a remake to be developed! Nevertheles, the original game still stands as a legend to this day.
If this game sounds interesting to you, consider buying the remake for the Nintendo Switch!
