DANCER OF THE MONTH This Months “IMPACT Dancer of The Month” has been selected based on their dedication and improvement in class as well as their kindness towards their peers, families, and staff through their positive IMPACT they make on the studio environment as a whole. Our Impact Dancer will get to select a charity of their choice for The Dance Attic to make a $50 donation in their name. Once the charity is chosen by the dancer and their family, we will share that information with our families in the following Newsletter. Rachel Harris
Rachel is an excellent role model for all dancers. When she is not dancing or serving as a TA, she can be seen working on homework or helping staff in the front lobby. She is conscientious and takers her TA responsibility seriously. In class she is positive and always willing to help her peers. She is such a great student here at TDA, and has made a positive Impact during her time her as a dancer and mentor!
JANUARY KAROLINA KHACHATUROVA Karolina has decided to donate $50 towards the Bolt For Brooklyn Organization to support families in need of financial assistance associated with the cost of cancer treatments needed for a loved one. Sutton Raynor - What Impact has The Dance Attic made on your life? The Dance Attic has been such a driving force in my life. I’ve been dancing here since I was in kindergarten and I’ve met so many amazing people and done things I never thought I would be able to. It’s such a loving and supportive environment and being there always pushes me to do my best. How do you hope to leave your Imprint on The Dance Attic before graduation? I hope to be able to help younger dancers to grow, just like the older dancers did for me in the past. I want them to grow up surrounded by the same support that I did. I hope to be someone they aspire to be like, and then I want them to be better. Kellie Muzeau - What Impact has The Dance Attic made on your life? In just a short time at The Dance Attic, it has become more than a dance studio; it's like a second family to me. The warmth and connection with everyone there make it feel like I've been part of TDA for ages, fostering a sense of belonging and support that goes beyond dance practice. Despite my brief duration, the impact has been immense, creating lasting relationships that have enriched my teenage years. Beyond the family-like environment, The Dance Attic has been a catalyst for my dance journey. The instructors' dedication and the studio's commitment to excellence have significantly shaped my dance knowledge and skills. Even though I haven't been here long, the quality of instruction has boosted my confidence and proficiency, laying a solid foundation for my ongoing dance exploration. TDA has not just been about steps; it's been a crucial influence propelling me forward in my dance endeavors. How do you hope to leave your Imprint on The Dance Attic before graduation? Before graduation, my aim is to leave a lasting imprint on The Dance Attic by striving to become the best dancer I can possibly be. I aspire to not only master the technical aspects of dance but also infuse my performances with passion and emotion, creating memorable moments for both myself and the audience. Additionally, I hope to be remembered as a valuable team player, contributing positively to the TDA community. Whether collaborating in group routines or supporting fellow dancers, I want to foster a sense of unity and camaraderie, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, skill, and teamwork at The Dance Attic. BOLT FOT BROOKLYN POP UP CLASS WITH We are so excited and looking forward to our Pop Up Master Class with guest choreographer, Chania Wilson in support of one of our charities in February - "Bolt For Brooklyn." As TDA plans for another successful event, we hope to provide you with the information needed to get pumped for not only the classes, but an awesome series of raffle prizes also donated by The Dance Attic! Please read below for registration & Raffle ticket information! When: February 9th 4:30-5:30 - Elementary School Dancers 5:30-6:30 - Middle School Dancers 6:30-7:30 - High School Dancers Where: The Dance Attic! Who: Any and All Dancers are welcome to take class! How: CLICK HERE to access your TDA Parent Portal. Under the "Find Events" tab you will see on the list of events three different Bolt for Brooklyn class options: 1 for elementary school students, 1 for middle school students, and 1 for high school students. To register click on the class and add it to your cart to then finalize your purchase! How Much: Class will be $25 - a portion of these funds will go towards paying our fabulous guest artist! All additional funds will be going straight to "Bolt for Brooklyn" Raffle Tickets & Raffle Prizes: This is an additional fundraising element of the event to help get more money for this amazing organization. See below for a breakdown of our Raffle Ticket Prices and Prizes! Please sign up for raffle tickets below by February 5, 2024 and let us know which ones, and how many you would like. You are still able to purchase raffle tickets and we will put your name on your purchased tickets to be entered into our raffle bucket!We will pull the raffle on site at 7:45 as we go live on our Facebook Page! TDA ACRO PROGRAM UPDATE You Ask, We Listen! We are excited to announce that TDA will be hosting more regular Acro Classes to provide students with opportunity with their skills and tricks. As Ms. Delaney is still in school. We have worked together to get 7 dates from now until May for all of you to be able to sign up for TDA Acro Classes with Ms. Delaney! These classes will operate similarly to Master Classes and will run on Saturdays directly following TDAC invite rehearsals. There will be three different class levels, and the classes will run from 1:00-4:00. If you are in the TDAC Competitive team, CLICK HERE to see your class assignment and time your classes will run. If you are not in TDAC and are interested in these classes, please email us so we can get you placed in the appropriate class and you can register! How to Register: Registration for these classes will run through Jackrabbit Parent Portal, and you will register for them under the "Events" Tab in your Parent Portal. Classes are 1 hour long and $10 per class. When registering, be sure to register for the date you want, and the level that you have been assigned to in the document above.

TDA Recreational Group Pictures All Dancers will be taking a group picture for each dance that has a costume. We need all of our dancers in attendance for our group shots for memories, (even if you are not purchasing the group photo, you will be in the photo.) The schedule for pictures is broken up by class, where all dancers will take their class group photo first, and then any dancer who has paid for their individual photo, will take that photo directly following the group photo. All group photos are available to purchase for $10 per photo. There will be one class photo selected by Local Eye Photography as the group photo available for access. TDA Recreational Individual Pictures Dancers are able to sign up for individual pictures/poses in however many costumes you wish. In the schedule we have allotted time for dancers to pose for their individual pictures directly following the group photo for each costume. We will need to know in advance what costumes dancers would like to purchase their pictures in to make a finalized schedule. With that in mind, please see the Early Bird pricing for TDA Recreational Individual Pictures. On the Google Form linked below you will let us know what costumes you will purchase individual pictures in. Based on your responses, picture fees will be posted directly to your TDA Jackrabbit Accounts.
QUICK PHOTO SESSION NOTES Dancers will take group photos in every costume. Dancers will be changing from costume to costume in the other studios for their assigned photo slots. All photos will be distributed via digital download access to your own devices for you to download, export, and share without watermarks or logos. As Ms. Hallie is one of our own, we ask that you respect her work and the process of purchasing/sharing photos of your dancer. TDA staff will pick the best of the images to share with you and you will get access to all of those images. Dancers will be taught their picture poses in class and will be assigned poses for each of their costumes. All Dancers will be doing the same poses per each costume for these images, as we have done in the past.

TDA RECREATIONAL PICTURES EARLY BIRD PRICING These prices will be for all who complete the form prior to Feb. 15th - All Prices will go up for those who reach out past the deadline. COSTUME INFO TDA Costumes will be passed out in February to all of our dancers. Please note upon receiving costumes you will be responsible for all alterations and costume needs. If there are any costume issues, we need to know within one week of receiving costumes in order to help you rectify your problems and make alteration suggestions for you. Please do not send emails in regards to costumes. Always remember, too big is completely fixable, if something is too small, we will offer suggestions on how to get costumes fitting. We are hopeful with how we did costume sizing this season, to have a smoother costume process. CLICK HERE once Costumes have been passed out to inform us of any costume issues. ADULT CLASS SERIES For the month of January & February we welcome Ms. Hallie for Lyrical as she is taking on her first Adult Class Series of the season! Right now we have 5 adults registered for the class and we will need a total of 8 to continue with the class! We will be taking off Wednesday February 14th for date nights for all!
COMPETITION INFO Our studio will be competing in Star Talent Productions Dance Competition on the weekend of April 12-14 in Henderson, NC! Please know, we will not know the specific days and times for each dancer until 7-10 days before the competition date. Also, please note that all tuition and outstanding payments must be paid to receive your costumes and to participate in the competition. Staff has also selected dancers to be Award Collectors at the competition. CLICK HERE to check and see if this applies to your dancers and the responsibilities that come with that. If you were selected as an award collector you will need to confirm via the document above by February 1st.

To help prepare for the competition, We will have a dress rehearsal during class April 8-11. Dancers who are competing, will come to class in the costume that you are wearing/competing in at Competition. This includes all costume pieces, hair, and make up. Dancers should also have regular dance clothes packed to be able to rehearse once we have reviewed any adjustments needed for their costumes. We do not want dancers to wear their costumes the entire class, so please be sure the additional dance clothes are packed. All Dancers will wear their hair in a low, slicked, middle part pony tail into a braid. (Ballet Classes included). We will send slips home with dancers if there are any specific issues with their costumes, hair, or make up as well as send out emails to individual classes if we have notes for the whole group. Combo Dancers and Families will have Parent Meetings Prior to competition. See below for the Competition Parent Meetings Times. All Advanced “I” Classes will have meetings with dancers and teachers in class, and parents do not need to attend.

PAJAMA WEEK Directly following our competition, we will celebrate our dancers with a Pajama Week Celebration. Dancers will receive accolades and talk about their experience at competition with a few surprises and fun activities at well.
REGISTRATION Registration for the 2024-25 season will be here before you know it! We want you to go ahead and be thinking about what classes you would like to take next year. Class Placements and Schedules will be sent out in April, along with Registration guidelines for all current students. You will receive a discounted registration as a current TDA Dancer as you take precedence in our registration process. At this time, Current TDA students will also be able to enroll for the summer session in April. Registration will be open to the public in May. Please start thinking of friends/dancers that might be interested in registering and joining the TDA family. There is a referral incentive for every dancer who mentions your name on their registration form! We will be hosting 1 trial class on Friday June 21st for new dancers to come out and try classes, teachers to place dancers, and to help them with their registration as well. More information to come, and would love your help spreading the word!!!
RECITAL INFO Hard to believe but, we are already busy planning for our 36th Annual Recital! We wanted to go ahead and give you some information so that you can plan accordingly. This year’s recital will be held at Wakefield High School, June 8-9th! The tentative schedule is as follows. Please read carefully, as it is a little different than years past! This change was made to help accommodate our 13 Graduating seniors to ensure they would be able to participate in all of their senior events and celebrations! In Studio Recital Rehearsals: The rehearsals below will be our last rehearsals at TDA before we head over to Wakefield High School on Friday for Dress Rehearsal. Dancers will have altered time schedules listed below based off of what recitals they are in. More information will be given as we get closer to Recital. RECITAL MERCHANDISE: For recital, we have a couple of traditional merchandise and memoirs available for purchase. Each year we have a special souvenir program for our recital. The program will be $15 and the order form to claim yours will be sent out in April. We will sell advertisements and souvenir pages/pictures where you can purchase space in the program for either advertisements or sweet photos and messages for your dancer, using photos from this seasons TDA Photo session chosen by our program designers. T-Shirts, Flowers, and Ticket Sales information will also be available in the April Newsletter.
RECITAL VIDEOS: Every dancer at TDA will receive all 4 recital videos for only $25! This charge will be processed on your account on May 15th. You will get access to all videos, and if you have multiple dancers, you will only be charged one time per family.

At The Dance Attic, we value every student – young and old, beginners and advanced students alike. It is our aim to offer a quality dance education all students and their different needs. Some students choose to make dance their primary extra-curricular activity and participate in dance at a very high level. Here at TDA we have a competitive team for dancers such as these to audition and participate in to take dance to the next level. We are already in the process in plans for our next season, and are getting emails of interest from dancers wanting more information for our competitive team! If you are interested in TDAC (The Dance Attic Company), we would love to hear from you! Below is a form to show that you are interested in TDAC (The Dance Attic Company) and to be added to our mailing list for more information. IMPORTANT INFO & REMINDERS: 1. Parents, please drop your dancer off no more than 10 minutes early and pick them up promptly when class is over. 2. Please read our Facebook posts for important and quick announcements. 3. We want you to email when you are absent. Remember to include the class, day, 4. and teacher in your email. Please note you will still receive email reminders and updates even if you have told us that you will be absent. Those are mass emails that go to everyone! 5. All Dancers in Tap 1 and above should have Black Tap Shoes. At Dance etc. the “respect” style is what dancers should have at this point of their tap education. 6. Write your dancer's name on all dance gear (shoes, bag, jacket, etc.). Also, please be sure to put your dancers name on water bottles. All dancers should be bringing their water bottles to class. We have some dancers taking advantage of leaving class to use the water fountains. To help alleviate this, we ask that dancers all pack full water bottles every day.
