Just a Note: All of our classes are in full swing and everyone seems to be having lots of fun while learning! Dancers are learning their routines for competition and recital, so it is very important to be in class. If you have to miss, please send an email to info@thedanceattic.com to let us know about your absence. Please include your dancer’s name, class times, and instructor in your email. We have started sending automatic emails in reference to absences each day. Even if you have previously communicated your absence, you will still receive the automatic email.
Cleaning Up: With 5 studios, it gets very busy at TDA. There is a lot of traffic in and out, and unfortunately more traffic means more trash. Dancers are only allowed to bring WATER into the actual studios. If dancers have snacks or food, that should only be eaten between classes or on breaks, and dancers need to clean up after themselves. No trash should be left around the studio and dancers need to be sure to get their water bottles before leaving for the evening. It is helpful when dancers have their name clearly labeled on their own water bottle when arriving to the studio. All food trash goes in the big trash can outside in the commons area, please do not use small trash cans for your food trash. We have new picnic table outside that the dancers have started to really enjoy! If the weather is right, feel free to enjoy those tables! Thank you for your help in keeping the studio looking fabulous with all of our new renovations this season!

Impact Dancer of The Month: This Months “IMPACT Dancer of The Month” has been selected based on their dedication and improvement in class as well as their kindness towards their peers, families, and staff through their positive IMPACT they make on the studio environment as a whole. Our Impact Dancer will get to select a charity of their choice for The Dance Attic to make a $50 donation in their name. Once the charity is chosen by the dancer and their family, we will share that information with our families in the following Newsletter. Isabelle Cusick Isabelle does a great job in class being kind to all of her peers. She has shown respect to herself, her peers, and her teachers from the beginning of the dance year! Isabelle helps her friends with walking on and staying their spots and does a good job practicing her dance as well! Congratulations Isabelle! October Winner: Bryn Knode has chosen the Myra’s Angels Organization as her Impact Charity. The Dance Attic has donated $50 in Bryn’s Name to the charity of her choice. Myra’s Angels Foundation (MAF) was established February 2017 in Raleigh, North Carolina. MAF’s main focus is to make a difference in the lives of homeless and foster children. We have reached out directly to these two organizations and the items they are in need of are here. The Dance Attic Staff would like to challenge our families to bring in three items for these charities this month! Our collection week will be the second week in November (11/6-11/11). There are online options for any dancers/families that bring donations in during that week, you will be featured in our Newsletter and social media as Imprint Challenge Dancers for this month! Nutcracker Update: As sent previously in an email, Unfortunately, we did not have enough dancers show interest in the Nutcracker prior to the deadline, and we will be cancelling this year's outside of class Nutcracker activity. With that being said, TDA Ballet staff will be incorporating Nutcracker choreography and variations into their classes in the month of November. Looking forward to incorporating additional ballet experiences within our ballet classes for the remainder of the year.
TDA Dance-A-Thon: The Dance Attic is excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Bolt for Brooklyn LLS Charity for the month of November. To raise money for this charity, TDA will be hosting a DANCE-A-THON on Friday November 3rd! We welcome our dancers to come out and participate in such an impactful event. We are looking forward to an evening filled with dance, fun, and donations. The Bolt for Brooklyn charity has helped financially support many families in our community who are battling cancer. Just last year a Bolt for Brooklyn fundraising event was able to help out one of our own TDA families on their cancer journey. Class of 2024 Features: Each month we will recognize two of our seniors in our Class of 2024 Features. Read below to learn a little more about two of our awesome seniors. Cole Walker - What Impact has The Dance Attic made on your life? The Dance Attic has had more of an impact on my life then imaginable. It’s given me, and a lot of other students, a place to be comfortable, safe and work on an art we all enjoy. It has given me plenty of opportunities that I am more than thankful for and can’t wait to show how they have paid off. How do you hope to leave your Imprint on The Dance Attic before graduation? I want to make an impact on The Dance Attic by helping teach peers and other students the same things I’ve learned at the studio. I want to push everyone around me to be the best versions of themselves they can be because having someone believe in you is powerful. Lastly, I want to be there for everyone whether they need someone to talk to or need advice. Sylvia Donahoe - What Impact has The Dance Attic made on your life? After dancing at The Dance Attic for 11 years, I will never forget the impact that it has left on my life. TDA gave me a family that I cannot imagine my life without and that I know I will never lose. I have loved spending countless hours there laughing and learning with my favorite people. I hope everyone is lucky enough to be a part of something that gives them as much comfort as TDA has given me. How do you hope to leave your Imprint on The Dance Attic before graduation? Ever since I was little, I have loved when Alumni comes back to the studio and is happy to see everyone. I hope that I give someone that same feeling when I come back. I will always love TDA and I hope I get to show that love for years to come. (Also, the fact that I named Tub-O-Gel is pretty cool and I have a feeling that isn't going anywhere)
TDA at The Rolesville Christmas Parade: The Dance Attic will be performing in The Rolesville Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 3th. CLICK HERE to view the Rolesville Info Page to follow for guidelines and expectations for the Parade.
Drop Off & Entry Number: TDA will line up at 12:30 pm in the Thales Parking Lot in Rolesville. If you’re dropping off a participant, you may only enter the Thales lot via Grand Rock Way, unless you are on foot. If you are dropping of Participants, move down to the Dropping Off Participants section. We do not find out entry number until the day of the parade, so we will post it on Facebook at about 11:30 am on the day of the parade. Pick Up: We suggest that parents follow along after you have seen your dancer dance in the Parade. TDA Staff and Teacher Assistant will be corralling dancers in a big circle where the parade ends. Parents, please pick up immediately and be on the lookout for the big crowd in red sunglasses. Parade Routine: TDA Dancers on Monday Combo and up are welcome to dance in the parade with the parade routine taught in class; however, the parade route can be a little long for our little dancers. Our Creative Movement classes as well as Monday Combo dancers and families can decorate wagons for parents to pull your dancers in if you choose. If your child would rather walk, that’s fine, but we recommend a wagon because they do get tired on the walk. You can decorate the wagons anyway you want and we will be sharing our awesome wagons on Facebook for everyone to see.
TDA at The Rolesville Christmas Parade (continued): What to Wear: We will wear our 2023-24 Red TDA Shirts (with white turtlenecks underneath if it’s cold). If you or your dancer is dancing, you will need black dance-able pants/leggings and solid colored tennis shoes. You will wear your hair in a low slick ponytail, and feel free to add makeup to make your dancer feel special. All dancers will also wear their red heart glasses that they will receive in November. TDAC Members you will receive a separate email for your parade expectations.
TDA Blood Drive: You will receive more information in our December Newsletter about our partnership with the American Red Cross as we host a Blood Drive at The Dance Attic. For now, please hold the date of Monday December 11th, from 9:00am-3:00pm. We are looking forward to coming together and giving back to our community as we head into the Holiday Season. TDA Recreational Dancers Head to Competition: Each year our studio participates in a local competition. This is a great opportunity for dancers of a certain age to experience performing and interacting with other dance studios. It is a very positive experience, and all of the dancers are rewarded for their hard work! Staff has also selected dancers to be Award Collectors at the competition. CLICK HERE to check and see if this applies to your dancers and the responsibilities that come with that. If you were selected as an award collector you will need to confirm via the document above by February 1 st. Our studio will be competing in Star Talent Productions Dance Competition on the weekend of April 12-14 in Henderson, NC McGregor Hall, 201 Breckenridge St, Henderson, NC 27536
TDA Recreational Dancers Head to Competition (continued): The Following groups will be competing. If your child is one of our Creative Movement classes (a-e) they will not complete
TDA Recreational Competition Fees & Other Info: There will be a $75 competition fee for your routines on your November Billing Statements. We have measured for and ordered our competition costumes in order for them to come in in time for our competition. More information about Costumes will be sent later in the year. Please go ahead and put these dates on your calendar (April 12-14) This is a requirement for all dancers to attend, because any dancer missing affects the entire routine. We will not know the specific days and times for each dancer until 7-10 days before the competition date. You will receive more info later in the year. Also, please note that all tuition and outstanding payments must be paid to receive your costumes and to participate in the competition. If you have conflict with this date, please send an email to info@thedanceattic.com immediately.
Costume Sizing: In Order to assist us with sizing for our costume orders, we are asking parents to help us out! In order to do so, we need everyone to work together and get measurements for each of our dancers. CLICK HERE to access to Google Form with measurement instructions and submission google form. In the description of the form, you will find more details regarding the measurement protocols. If you do not complete the measurement form, TDA Staff will use the measurements we take in the studio to make sizing decisions. This form is due no later than OCTOBER 25th! To be clear with all, there will not be any costume refunds, no exchanges all alterations are to be made by families and are not the responsibility of TDA.
The TDA Google Drive: TDA will be continuing with our TDA Google Drive. This Drive will house all of the Newsletters, Important Updates, Music, Celebration Photos throughout the year as well as videos for the dancers to use to practice. The TDA LinkTree: TDA is excited to continue our Link Tree that serves as a hub for all of our dancers and families. You can use the QR below to scan and access the link tree on your devices. These will also be available to scan while you are at the studio, and we can help you with any questions you may have. TDA Administrative staff will keep the link tree up to date with pertinent information for you to check in and see if you are up to date with all things going on at TDA!

TDA will be closed for Thanksgiving Wednesday November 22-24, and will have no weekend rehearsals.

Please read our Facebook posts for important and quick announcements. When emailing if absent, remember to include the class, day, and teacher in your email. Please note you will still receive email reminders and updates even if you have told us that you will be absent. Those are mass emails that go to everyone! Please remember to wear the proper dance clothes and shoes to class. If you are not sure what shoes you should wear, please ask your instructor. If you are not prepared for your ballet classes alternative notes and other tasks might be given due to lack of preparation for our advanced class dancers. The monthly newsletter will always be posted on the website and Facebook. Write your dancer's name on all dance gear (shoes, bag, jacket, etc.). Also, please be sure to put your dancers name on water bottles. If something is lost the "lost and found" is no longer in dressing rooms but we will assist dancers in looking for missing items, and will keep up with things left in the studios. We will be donating all unclaimed lost and found items to Goodwill. Please check and claim your belongings before we close for winter break. Parents, please walk and meet your dancer for pick up. We do not like sending Dancers out into the parking lot or around the corner alone. TDA Staff needs to see every kid connect with their parent. Dancers in Pointe should have received an email in regards to pointe shoes. Please be sure to review and be prepared for your fitting. TDA Administration will draft accounts for fees on the 1st and 15th of the months, or close to these dates around holidays or busy events. Please be aware of these dates and make sure they are on your calendar. Your Newsletter will be sent out on the 25th of each month.
