Letter From the Editor Greetings and a warm welcome to our very first issue of DANCE AWARDS COMMEMORATVE MAGAZINE! We couldn’t be more excited to have made it to this point. Please take some time to get to know the layout of our magazine. You will notice that this issue features all of our 2016 Honorees for the “Dance Ministry Awards Showcase”. When we set out to create a magazine that would promote liturgical dance, creative christian artists, and gospel music; one thing we agreed on immediately was to steer-away from the glossy images of the too-perfect, productdriven magazines that we all sometimes read. What you will find in the pages of Dance Awards Commemorative Magazine is a collection of inspirational and instructive articles written by real, honest, down-to-earth folks who work hard to live deliberately for Christ, but who are not afraid to admit the struggles we sometimes face as artists and christian leaders. Our lives aren’t perfect. We all fall short of God's Glory on a daily basis, so in the midst of all things, we remain faithful, realistic, and honest. We try to be great examples for our children, disciples, ministries and especially you, our readers. We are honored to display the work of so many committed artists, who are willing to open their hearts and share their feelings, disappointments, triumphs and testimonies. You may want to sit and read the whole thing at once, or come back to this issue several times to digest the articles more slowly. Greetings! We bless you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and thank you for being a part of the Dance Ministry Awards Commemorative Magazine family. We are so elated that you've stayed focused, kept God first, and watched how your endeavors have been rewarded. You may not always be blessed in money, but good health and watch how many other doors will open for you, by continuing to do the work of the Lord in Jesus name Amen. We encourage you to stay faithful to the gift God has given you. It may get hard and frustrating at times, but know that God is able to do exceedingly abundant above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us(Ephesians 3:20). We are excited about the Dance Ministry Magazine. God has given it to our faithful member, Dr. Lavivian Renee, to birth from a prophetic word through our Apostolic leader, Dr. Wanda Tommie. MINISTER MARTHA SAVLOFF Dance Teacher of The Year as a Religious Organization and Church Director
M
artha Savloff Since she was a young girl, Minister Martha Savloff was a passionate dancer—in the secular world. Her focus in life was to dance, and she would make any excuse to dance. Then, when she made the decision to give her heart to the Lord, she stopped dancing— she didn’t even know that dance existed in the church. Martha exclaims, “The day I found out that dance was welcomed in the church, my life changed forever!” Martha’s journey as a passionate dance worshipper unto the Lord began in 2001, when, two weeks into her walk with God, she was asked to dance. She has not stopped dancing since! For the last 15 years she has danced for the Lord every week. Speaking about the early days of her dance ministry, Martha said, “I didn’t have much professional training, but what I did have was a heart of worship, God’s vision and His anointing.” She had the privilege of being the first dancer in a new dance ministry at Fort Myers Christian Outreach Center, Fort Myers, Florida. The ministry grew quickly, and because the church services were broadcast on Christian Television Network, they received many ministry invitations. Out of this ministry, four new dance ministries developed that have reached thousands of people. In 2008 the Lord called Martha out of Fort Myers to Abundant Life Christian Centre in Margate, Florida, where she immediately began to serve as the Dance Director. In 2012 the Lord called her to fulltime ministry and in 2013 she was ordained. Today she directs Chosen Dance Ministry: over 70 worshippers spanning ages five to 60! Their mission is to develop the next generation of worshippers. Martha describes her passion this way: “Dance ministry is not about dance, but about having the freedom to worship and minister through the language of movement. In order to lead a people into worship, we ourselves must worship in spirit and in truth, fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Dance was an essential element of worship in Biblical times, and today is an accepted and freeing act of worship. How beautiful is the feeling of worshipping the Lord with every inch of your body!” Martha stands firm on the word of God: “In Him, we live, MOVE, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). She states, “Without Him we wouldn’t be able to survive on this earth. He gave His all for us, and we should give our all to Him. He deserves every ounce of worship and praise." DR. TERESA N. MCCLURKIN (FASS) DMA'S DANCE TEACHER OF THE YEAR As a Private Studio, Higher Education & Conservatories

inister Teresa Nichole McClurkin was born on February 12, 19971 in Chester, SC. She is the daughter of the late Shirley McClurkin and Joe McClurkin. Presently, Minister Teresa resides in Rock Hill, SC and is a member of Agape International Ministries, where she was licensed on May 3, 2009 as a minister. She was the youth Minster
of Agape. She is the department head of the Young adult ministry. Minister Teresa serves as the Department Head of the Dance Ministry “Prophetic Movement”. She was ordained formally on January 19, 2007 at Our Father’s Ministry by Bishop J. A. Baldwin, where she served as an assistant Pastor and youth director. She is a former member of Faith Bible Church in Fort Mill, SC where she served as the Director of the Dance & Drama Ministry; work with the children and youth ministry. Minister Teresa is a graduate of York Comprehensive High School in York, SC. In addition, she graduated from The Art Institute of Charlotte with a major in Fashion Merchandising. She is a graduate of York Technical College. Her major is Business Management. She received her Associate Degree in Business Management 2008. Minister Teresa has the call of God upon her and has been sent by God to minister to his people through dance and words. Minister Teresa’s anointing is prophecy, deliverance, exhortation, and building. She has a love for God’s people and a hate for the devil. She is one that will speak the truth in love. She is one that will help push you to the place God is calling you too. She is one who will do what God say do, speak what God say speak, and go where God say go. She is one that has a heart to please God and to serve his people. Minister Teresa has been in ministry and doing ministry since her childhood. When she was young her mother and others notice that there was something different about Teresa. Everywhere they went she would stand out in a crowd. Even throughout her school years she was always a leader and it was others that appointed her to lead. So God had his hand on Minister Teresa from birth. She is the CEO and Founder of FASS, which stands for Fashioned Arts & Sound Studio was founded in 1995. What started as a desire for dance became a dream that revolved into a vision. Fashioned Arts & Sound Studio was built from pure passion and a strong endearing love for dance. Ms. Debra Miller accepted leadership of the Cultural Arts dance program after a long illness of the late Reverend Doctor Constance D. Samuels (Pastor and CEO of Earth Mission, Inc.). It was later renamed ‘For God’s Glory Community Dance Ministry’ after the former Director Reverend Doctor Debra R. Phaze II Mime Ministry is an anointed group of young men whose main purpose is to see souls saved. They are an offshoot from the original “Mime Boyz.� They are committed and meticulous about allowing God to use them in a most unique way and are definitely coming into their own.
These young men are in high demand being invited all over the country uplifting audiences everywhere. They will continue to grow in the Lord while their prayer is to solely win souls for Christ.

ntegrity. Class. Virtue. Lady Kristi Owens brings these words to life through her Godly character and unquenchable desire to live as a true example of a follower of Jesus Christ. She is a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring mentor who walks boldly and unapologetically in the anointing that God has graced her
with! A Delray Beach, Florida native, she was born Kristi Pratt; the only child of parents George Pratt, Jr. and Shirley Bush Wilson. She was also blessed with two of the most dedicated and loving grandparents, Curtis and Mary Jane Bush, who helped rear her into the powerful woman of God that she is today! Her foundation is the love of God, family, and inspiring others around her. Lady Kristi has always exemplified leadership and has achieved numerous accolades in both sports and her academic tenure. She received a full volleyball scholarship to Florida A&M University, and from there transferred to Miles College where she was an All-American player. She also obtained her cosmetology license and became an educator and master stylist in the hair industry; yielding an extensive clientele in the South Florida area for 16 years. Through her own personal struggles and obstacles she faced, Lady Kristi realized there was a calling on her life purposed for young girls and women. Her mission statement is, "To inspire a violated generation; one heart at a time". Lady Kristi has grasped the plight of purpose by speaking to and enlightening young ladies. She is the founder and chief facilitator of her own mentoring program, M.A.P. (Maturity. Accountability. Purpose.), where she inspires people to maximize their opportunities and live life on and in purpose. A Biblical Prayer For The Christian Performing Artist By Apostle Dr. Wanda Tommie
F
ather God, in the mighty name of Jesus, I bless and praise you for all that you do in my life. John 14:6 says that you are the way, truth and the light no man can come to the Father accept through you. Lord, teach me your ways that I may be the servant you created me to be. Isaiah 45:3 says that you Lord will give me treasures hidden in dark places, riches stored in secret places; so that I may know, that you are the Lord, the God of Israel who summons me by name.
Vs.4 says that you bestowed on me a title of honor and strength. I ask that as I discover and minister these treasures and rich gifts, hide me behind the cross like David and let the anointing you have placed on my life target the enemy and conquer him through my creative gifts in ministry. Lord place the anointing of a watchman on my life as you did David in 1 Samuel Chapter 17. Allow me to oversee God's people as they display their gifts through the ministry of the arts. Allow me to slay the bear and the lion just like David and protect your church from the hands and claws of the enemy. Place the anointing on my life as you placed on Elisha in 2 Kings 2:23-25, As he went up to Beth-el (Your house), a group of children out of the city mocked him and he turned back and cursed them in the name of the Lord and caused two bears to kill forty-two of them. Allow me to stand under the pressure of being mocked, criticized, and ridiculed. Allow me to walk in an apostolic, prophetic, and authoritative voice against my enemies with boldness and confidence like my brother Elisha. Exodus 15:20 Miriam took a tambourine and all the women went out after her in rhythm, praise dancing and singing songs of praise and victory. It is my greatest petition that like Miriam help me to pick up my instrument of praise to lead and disciple others and pursue you. Impart the praise and victory anointing on my creative gift and life. Allow me to use the gift as a weapon of praise and victory to set the captive free as I minister to your people. (Jeremiah 20:9) Jeremiah said that he will not speak the Lord's word nor speak anymore in your name, but God's word was in his heart like a fire and like a fire shut up in his bones. Jeremiah was weary and could no longer hold it inside. Don't ever let me have the desire to quit like Jeremiah did, but allow the fire that is shut up in my bones to consume everything that is not like you on/in my life. Lord in Jesus name whatsoever gifts you've given me, whether like David, Miriam, Elisha or Jeremiah, I'm asking you that I give praise to you in all that I do because you are my rock. You are the one that trains my hands for war, my feet to dance, my voice to sing praises, and my fingers for battle. It is my prayer to be a servant after your heart even as David. Whatsoever my gifts are as a creative artists, whether it's dancing, pantomime, rapping, singing, stomping, acting, music and/or preaching, allow me to use my weapons for spiritual combat and healing. Surround me in your holy presence and make me the breathing word of communication as it states in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Pray without ceasing. As an artist, I dedicate my creative gifts back to you to be used as an instrument of praise and worship. Never allow me to take your glory and your praise.
