The history of the Indianapolis 500 is rich with tradition and excitement. First held in 1911, this iconic race has become known as "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing." Over the years, the event has seen legendary drivers, thrilling finishes, and groundbreaking innovations in automotive technology.

If all of the Indy 500 hot dogs and bratwurst sold on race day were placed end-to-end, they would circle the oval more than three times.
Ray Harroun won the very first Indy 500 in 1911 with an average speed of 74.59 mph.
During World War II, the speedway was used as a training ground for military aviators who sat in their planes while they circled around its 2 5 mile oval track at high speeds to simulate battle conditions in Europe and Asia.
The Borg Warner Trophy has become one of many traditions associated with the Indy 500. Made from sterling silver, it weighs 110lb and stands at 65 inches tall, making it almost as big as many of the drivers. It was commissioned in 1935 at a cost of $10,000 and has been presented to the Indy 500 winner ever since Every year, the race winner’s face is created in silver and added to the trophy.
Central Indiana homes sold more quickly in March, housing inventory increases compared to this time last year

March 2024 saw a continued increase in available housing inventory and homes selling more quickly than this time last year. According to F.C. Tucker Company, part of the Howard Hanna family of companies:
Available housing inventory increased 29.4 percent compared to March 2023. Homes sold 10 days, or 18.5 percent, faster than this time last year.
Compared to March 2023, the average home sale price for the 16-county central Indiana region increased 1.1 percent to $323,982.
Pended home sales decreased slightly, down 1.6 percent compared to this time last year.
“The residential real estate market continues to strengthen as we move into the second quarter of 2024 Inventory continues to increase across central Indiana, which offers prospective buyers a wide selection of homes from which to choose. We are also seeing homes leave the market more quickly compared to last year, which is what we would anticipate seeing this time of year, ” said Jim Litten, president of F.C. Tucker Company.
