Practical Assessment Procedures

These procedures have been put in place as part of the NCEF response to the current COVID-19 situation and the need for self isolation
Introduction
As part of it’s response to the COVID 19 situation, the government has temporarily closed all schools, colleges and universities. The University of Limerick has instructed all it’s departments to develop alternative assessment methods that will assess the learning outcomes of modules and courses and comply with the measures being taken to combat COVID-19.
NCEF has the developed the assessment procedures on the following pages in line with these instructions. As students you are asked to teach ‘virtual classes’ without participants and record these using the video camera on your phone or a camcorder if preferred and submit these videos for grading. In terms of observation and correc- tion this will be assessed by you watching a 30 minute video of a full SS2092 Practical Examination and noting areas that need to be corrected and stating how this could be achieved.
We realise this is a different scenario than that which you were expecting in your practical assessment and with that in mind we have compiled a detailed tutorial to assist you in setting up the camera, recording yourself and submitting the video assessment. The link to this is at bottom of this page.
You also need to keep in mind that although the university is now closed, your tutors are still at work. Please contact your course coordinator or me directly if you are experiencing any difficulties in recording your assessments or technical issues with your videos.
