Dallas carries a deep and rich sports culture. Professional franchises have come and gone. Stadiums and arenas have been constructed and demolished. But there’s one fixture that has survived the decades as a megalithic sports structure: Cotton Bowl Stadium. With more than 92,000 seats, it is the fourth-largest stadium in Texas. Nearing its 100th birthday, the historical landmark, which opened in 1930, is undergoing major
renovations. The $140 million project began in March and received an additional $65 million in funding in mid-September. It is estimated to be completed by the start of the 2025 State Fair of Texas, but the stadium will continue to host events in the meantime.
