A Letter from the President, Lance Lane Summer is in full swing, and I hope you're getting outside and enjoying your Club. Whether it's playing golf, tennis, or sitting by the pool, the Club is a great retreat. This is the busiest time of the year for the staff, so please be patient if things slow down a little bit regarding service. We have a lot of new faces working this summer to keep up with the volume of folks who use the Club. There is a learning curve for these staff members to get acclimated to DAC. Let’s welcome them and show them we are glad they are working here. You may have noticed we have put down a new splash pad floor. The old splash pad floor had significant wear so a replacement was in order. We also have a new diving board. Make sure to use your DAC app when ordering refreshments at the pool. The Grab & Go Pool menu can be found in the DAC app. Ordering via the app will expedite your order and help workflow in the kitchen and with the staff. On the membership front, our waiting list continues to grow with new people adding their names to it weekly. All membership categories are full, and there's now a waitlist which we will continue to diligently work through. However, our Club retention is at an all-time high this year which is a great testament to the value people place on membership at DAC. Our
growth in the last two years has been phenomenal, and we continue to be a heavily desired Club. If you have friends or relatives considering joining, our list will only grow longer. Encourage them to contact Cari Wheatley, our Membership Director, sooner rather than later. As the heat continues through July and August, this will put a lot of stress on our golf courses. Please be mindful of raking the bunkers, putting sand in your divots in the fairway, and fixing your divots on the green. This will not only help the golf course heal more quickly but will also make for better play for all members. Lance and his staff are doing a great job of keeping the golf carts ready. You may have noticed that while they are marshalling the golf course, they are providing cold water to those in need. Be sure to take advantage of this service and hydrate as much as possible, especially during the hot summer months. Lastly, the Fourth of July is right around the corner. Spending this holiday at DAC is a tradition for many, so be sure to make your reservations early to hold your spot. Parking passes can be picked up at the Front Desk and if you need an additional pass you can purchase it for $25. Each year this event gets better and better with poolside fun, food, and fireworks. We hope to see you at DAC for this and many other fun events. Have a great summer!
Lance Lane President

From the Desk of Cari Wheatley Keeping your member profile up to date is very helpful for our team! Do we have the correct e-mail and contact information for you and your family members? Have you recently moved, changed your phone number, or perhaps had a new addition to your family? We need to have a current and updated membership database to be able to keep you well informed, whether it be relevant membership information or important upcoming event details; we want to keep you in the loop! We strive to provide the highest level of service. By uploading a photo to your profiles through the App, our team can customize your preferences and train our new summer staff to deliver the DAC experience.

Wet Spots & Dry Spots... by Travis Moore, Course Superintendent Few things affect playing conditions more than water management. This is especially true during July and August. Irrigation systems are designed to supplement rainfall – not replace it, and even the best systems in the world are not perfect. Factors such as elevation, trees, structures, hardscapes, and wind make it impossible to evenly irrigate all areas of the course. This is the reason that during long dry periods golfers encounter places on the golf course that are either
too wet or too dry. It is important to note that the majority of our irrigation system components are almost 40 years old. The system as whole has been very well maintained and is still functional, however it significantly limits our ability to control how much water is applied in specific areas when compared to modern systems. In order to minimize this problem, we are constantly repairing and modifying sprinklers, manually irrigating certain areas during the day, and rely heavily on hand watering high priority areas. We are also working on options for overhauling the irrigation systems on both courses as part of our Master Planning efforts to address these issues long-term.

Eric Dye, PGA Assistant Professional, also finished in the money in the Open Division and Ryan Bowey, PGA Head Professional, made the only skin of the entire tournament with an eagle on number one in round two.
Back-To-Back Eagles... During the 1919 Spring Member Guest, Mr. Rick Resnik made not one, but two eagles back-to-back days. On May 12, Mr. Resnick made his first Eagle on #7 Gold with his Pitching Wedge during the Practice Round. The next day during the tournament, he made his second Eagle on the same hole with his Pitching Wedge! Way to go, Mr. Resnick!
Doing Your Part to Help with Cart Traffic...
turfgrass is most capable of handling traffic and golfers should try to keep carts in these areas as much as possible. 2. Don’t follow the same path that everyone else does. Spreading out the traffic reduces soil compaction and overall wear and tear.
One of the best things about golf carts is that they allow us to enjoy the course – even in the heat of summer. They also allow individuals of all ages to continue playing golf in-spite of physical ailments or disabilities. Following
3. Follow any or directional signs or stakes.
the simple guidelines below will help minimize the damage that carts can cause to turf quality and help improve playing conditions.
a. Green/White Stakes – avoid driving in this area b. Cart Signs Near Greens – return to path for remainder of hole.
1. Do not drive in areas where the turf is weak or thin. Healthy
4. Watch out for wet areas. 5. Avoid abrupt stops, starts, and sharp turns. Our goal is for as many members to enjoy the game as possible. If the majority of “able-bodied” golfers do their part to follow the above guidelines – then those who need closer cart access to greens, tees, etc. can do so without negatively impacting turf conditions. We are also constantly working with our maintenance crew to minimize the impact of utility vehicles, tractors, mowers, etc. In many situations, golf carts and quality turfgrass can coexist – but we must give it the best chance possible.
