For several years, members have had the option to pay monthly statement balances with a credit card via an external website, Plastiq. Plastiq charged a processing fee for that transaction. To make payment processing more convenient for our members, we have added credit card payments to our website and the DAC app. A 3% fee will be collected for all credit card transactions, which offsets the bank fees associated with credit card processing.
On the website and in the app, you can now find under the “Payment Option” box dropdown an option for “Create New Credit Card”. Once you have added the credit card to your member profile, it will save the information for future transactions. The system will alert you to the fee associated with the transaction, and like bank account transactions you will need to approve the payment to finalize. Once you have saved your card the only information that you will need to have for future transactions is the CVV 3- or 4-digit code to process the credit card payment.
Processing credit card payments through the website or the DAC app, will automatically post the payment to your account the date that you process the transaction. There is not an option to select a later date at this time.
Don’t want to pay the surcharge associated with using a credit card, then please continue to pay online or in the app with your saved bank account information. Our accounting team is happy to assist you with any questions, help you set up credit card or online payments, or provide support in any way we can. My team and I are available weekdays from 8:30am-5pm or you can reach me via email at cthames@dacstaff.org.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
BUILDING STRENGTH, CREATING MEMORIES
How fitness, family, and friendship have made the Club an even more meaningful part of life.
What started as a recommendation from his cardiologist became a life-changing journey toward better health. After a recommendation from his cardiologist, Brad Cravens committed to making fitness a priority. With guidance from Fitness Director, Bernie Garces, and a consistent strengthtraining routine, he has lost 30 pounds, gained strength and energy, improved his mobility, and even noticed positive results in his golf game. His story is a powerful reminder that small, consistent steps can lead to meaningful change.
What motivated you to get more involved in fitness at the Club?
After receiving a high score on my coronary calcium test, my cardiologist recommended that I lose a few pounds and begin a strength-training program. That was the push I needed to take my fitness more seriously and make exercise a regular part of my routine.
New addition to your family?
We want to celebrate our littlest new members! Please e-mail cwheatley@dacstaff.org a picture of your newest addition along with their name and date of birth to be included in the following newsletter. I will also make sure they are updated in your DAC Member Profile!

How has your routine evolved since you first started spending time in the fitness center?
When I started, my main goal was simply to become more active and improve my overall health. Over time, my workouts have become more structured and focused, combining strength training, mobility work, and cardio to support my health.
Are there certain classes, trainers, or amenities at the Club that have made a big impact on your routine?
The club’s fitness director, Bernie Garces, has made a tremendous difference. He has helped me build a program that is effective, manageable, and tailored to my goals. His guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in my progress.
What does a typical workout week look like for you?
I train two days a week, doing an upper-body day and a lower-body day, focusing on strength and mobility work along with cardio. This combination has helped me build strength, improve flexibility, and maintain better overall conditioning.
What keeps you consistent and coming back, even on busy days?
The results have been very motivating. As I’ve become stronger and healthier, I’ve felt better in everyday life. That progress makes it easier to stay committed.
Have you noticed any positive changes—whether in energy, strength, or overall well-being—since focusing more on fitness? Absolutely. I’ve lost 30 pounds, feel stronger, have more energy, and enjoy better mobility. One of the most rewarding benefits has been the improvement in my golf game.
What advice would you give to another member who is looking to get started or get back into a routine?
Take advantage of the incredible fitness center available to Club members. There is an impressive amount of equipment, including free weights, strength-training machines, and cardio equipment to fit every fitness level and goal. I highly recommend working with Bernie to create your own personal plan. Start with realistic goals, stay consistent, and the results can have a significant impact on your health and quality of life.
playground afterward. Whether we’re out on the golf course, sharing a meal, or watching the kids play, the Club offers a wonderful place for our family to relax and spend quality time together.
How has being part of the Club enhanced time with your family or friendships?
The Club has become a special place where I can connect with both friends and family. I enjoy golfing with longtime friends, and the Club has also given me the opportunity to make many new friendships. The Club provides a welcoming setting for family dinners and gatherings, and the staff is incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming—which makes every visit feel comfortable and enjoyable. It has created many opportunities for us to spend meaningful time together and make lasting memories.
Do you have a favorite Club event or tradition that you always look forward to?
One of the main reasons we joined the Club was for the golf, and the Club’s incredible golf facilities are a big part of what makes it so special. The courses themselves, along with the driving range and pro-shop, create an outstanding experience every time we visit. The talented and highly skilled golf professionals, along with the knowledgeable and friendly golf staff, are always helpful and make the experience even more enjoyable. I especially look forward to the Tradition Golf Tournament, which is one of my favorite events each year and a wonderful opportunity to spend time with friends and fellow members. I also love bringing our grandchildren to the Club’s holiday events, including meeting Santa Claus, Easter celebrations, Halloween festivities, and the Fall Festival. These family traditions are incredibly special and are a big part of what makes the Club feel like a true community.
When you’re not in the fitness center, what are some of your favorite ways to spend time at the Club?
When I’m not in the fitness center, I enjoy playing golf with my friends, and my wife and I take advantage of the Club’s dining options My grandchildren especially enjoy eating on the Elm Room dining patio and spending time on the
For The Cravens Family, the Club represents much more than fitness and golf. It is a place where friendships grow, families gather, and traditions are made. Whether competing in Tradition, enjoying dinner with loved ones, or watching their grandchildren experience the joy of holiday celebrations, they appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community that make the Club such a special part of their family’s life.
TURF TALK
SUMMER IRRIGATION MANAGEMENT
Travis Moore Course Superintendent
Summer temperatures have arrived, and this will be the first season with both of our new irrigation systems fully operational. The investment in these systems will pay significant dividends during the hottest months of the year as our staff works to fine-tune more than 2,500 individual irrigation zones across the property.
In addition to the new infrastructure, we are utilizing evapotranspiration (ET) data to guide irrigation decisions. ET measures how much water is lost from the turf and soil through plant use and evaporation, allowing us to more accurately replace only the water that has been used.
While the new systems will do a much better job of minimizing dry spots and wet spots, it is important to remember that irrigation systems are designed to supplement rainfall—not replace it. Extended periods without rain will still create challenges, which is why our team will continue to rely on hand watering and moisture meters, especially on greens, to precisely manage soil moisture and maintain the best possible playing conditions throughout the summer.
Upcoming Driving Range Improvements
In June we completed aesthetic improvements to the cart barn and surrounding area. In August we will move forward with replacing the existing driving range hitting mats on the main driving range tee. This work will include relocating the hitting line to the back of the tee (closest to the parking lot) which will provide easier access, improved drainage, and extend the overall life of the mats.
Stay Connected with the Agronomy Blog
For more frequent updates on course conditions, maintenance practices, construction projects, tournament preparation, and other happenings around the property, be sure to visit the DAC Agronomy Blog. New posts are published weekly and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the work being done to maintain and improve both golf courses throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing everyone on the courses soon.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF
SUMMER HEATS UP ON THE FAIRWAYS
Summer is one of my favorite times of the year around the golf shop. The courses are in great shape, the days are long, and our calendar is packed with opportunities to go out and enjoy DAC golf. We’ll kick things off with our annual Fourth of July Shotgun, one of the best traditions at the Club, before turning our attention to some of our biggest championships of the season. The Men’s Stroke Play Championship is just around the corner, and the race for a spot in the Nicklaus Cup is really starting
to heat up. Every qualifier has become more meaningful as the scores roll in with everyone trying to earn their place in this year’s event. Our Season Long Four Ball Match Play is making its way to the final match which will be held in early August, and we’re excited to see our youngest members compete for their own titles in the Junior Club Championship. As you can see there is a lot to look forward to this summer at the Club.
As always, thank you for being part of what makes the golf community at DAC so special. The enthusiasm and support
our members bring to these events is what makes this Club unique, and we look forward to seeing everyone around the golf shop and out on the course for what should be a fantastic summer of golf.
Good Golfing,
Renaldo Chiang, PGA, Director of Golf
HYDRATION MATTERS
Stuart Hendley, PGA Head Golf Professional GOLF TIP
Heading into the summer and the start of warmer, more humid weather, staying properly hydrated is important if you want to feel better, stay healthy, keep your muscles working properly, maintain concentration and energy levels, and play your best golf. That’s a long list of things that are all related to staying properly hydrated before and during a round of golf or practice session. If you watch golf on television or attend any tournament that has high-level golfers playing, you will notice how often these golfers are drinking something. They are not just thirsty; they are making sure they stay properly hydrated.
Drink plenty of water and an electrolyte-replacement drink (Gatorade, Powerade, etc.) at some point during the day. Drinking small amounts frequently helps keep you feeling the same during your round. Waiting until you are really thirsty and then downing a large amount of fluid at once is likely not as effective. If you like to have an adult beverage or soft drink during your round, try to also include some water and electrolyte replacement as well at some point.
This simple habit of consuming enough beneficial fluids consistently during your round will help you play better golf and enjoy your time at the Club!
GOLF RULE MATCH PLAY
Tim Brown, PGA Head Golf Professional
Tournament season is in full swing now; that being said, let’s make sure we are all on the same page for Match Play. The hole is decided when a player wins the hole, the opponent concedes a hole, or the opponent gets a general penalty, which is a loss of a hole in match play. A player may concede a hole or a stroke at any time.
We hope your kids are enjoying summer camps with us. We love seeing the youngest DAC players having fun on the courts while learning new skills.
This year, we added an additional week of tennis camp, July 14–17, to provide more opportunities to get your child involved in the game. We also offer a junior development program for all ages this summer from 6–7:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
If you have any questions or need help getting your child involved, please email me directly at nprinz@ dacstaff.org.
See you on the courts,
Natalia Prinz Director of Tennis

BEAT THE TEXAS HEAT
A Simple 20-Minute Indoor Workout for Golfers, Tennis Players & Active Members
Summer in Texas can make it difficult to stay active outdoors. Between triple-digit temperatures, high humidity, and extended sun exposure, even a short workout can become physically demanding. While it’s important to enjoy outdoor activities when possible, the hottest months of the year are often a good time to focus on indoor exercise. The good news is that you don’t need a full gym or expensive equipment to stay fit. A simple, consistent workout performed indoors can help maintain strength, mobility, and endurance while keeping you out of the heat.
Why this matters for golfers
Golf may not feel as physically demanding as some other sports, but a quality golf swing requires strength, balance, mobility, and coordination working together. Strong legs help create a stable base throughout the swing, while a strong core allows you to transfer energy efficiently from the ground through the club. Maintaining fitness during the summer months can also help reduce fatigue late in the round and support better consistency from the first hole to the eighteenth. Even a few short workouts each week can help keep your body be prepared for the demands of the course.
Why this matters for tennis players
Tennis is a sport built on movement. Every point requires quick reactions, balance, acceleration, and the ability to repeatedly generate force through the legs and core. When temperatures rise, it can be tempting to reduce activity
levels altogether, but maintaining strength and mobility is important for both performance and injury prevention. Consistent training helps players move more efficiently, maintain stamina during longer matches, and recover more effectively between playing sessions.
Why this matters for everyone
Even if you don’t play golf or tennis, regular exercise remains one of the best investments you can make in your health. Strength training helps maintain muscle mass as we age, improves bone health, supports healthy joints, and makes everyday activities easier. A simple workout routine can improve energy levels, support a healthy weight, and help you continue enjoying the activities you love both inside and outside the Club.
