June 5–July 13 Design a bookmark interpreting the theme “My Library is awesome because…” Pick up an entry form at any Dakota County Library location or download it from our website. Design must be created on the entry form and be original work by the submitting artist. Entries accepted June 5–July 13 at any library location. Prizes awarded for first-, second- and third-place teens entering grades 6–12. The winning bookmark will be printed and distributed at all Dakota County libraries.

Wednesday, Aug. 7, 5–7:30 p.m. Take a break from reading and enjoy water attractions and mini-golf at Cascade Bay Waterpark at this teens-only event. Get a free ticket when you sign up for Summer Discovery. If the Aug. 7 event is cancelled because of weather, passes will be honored any day throughout the rest of the season.

Dakota County Library is making programs and services more welcoming to people of all ages and abilities. Join us this summer for American Sign Language Celebrations, American Sign Language classes, a sensory-friendly performance of Congolese music, and art classes for teens and adults made possible by the Minnesota Department of Human Services Innovations Grant. Dakota County Library is the first public library in the state to receive this notable grant.

When Pleasant Hill and Heritage libraries reopen this summer, patrons are in for a treat. The new designs include an iLab, a pre-literacy learning space, a quiet study area, family seating, meeting rooms and more. In the meantime, visit Pleasant Hill at Westview Mall in Hastings and Heritage (holds pick up and returns) at Lakeville City Hall.
