Guinness Book of World Records by J.M. Baxi & Co. for Crew Sign offs MUMBAI: Week 14 - 20 June saw one of the most hectic activities in the Shipping Industry in recent times with over 5,500 Indian crew signed off from three Cruise ships at Mumbai and Goa. CELEBRITY INFINITY and the ANTHEM OF THE SEAS arrived at Mumbai Anchorage AM at 12 and 13 June respectively. COVID-19 test for about 4,550 crew was carried out at the anchorage in a span of about 36 hours, and the reports started pouring in by PM 13/14 June. 910 crew members belonging to all states other than Goa were disembarked in a span of approximately 4 and a half hours. The next day, the ANTHEM OF THE SEAS was scheduled to berth alongside at the Offshore Container Terminal (OCT) at 0700 hours and transfer the 911 crew from Goa to The CELEBRITY INFINITY at the BPX Pier (BPX). This was necessitated as the Anthem of the Seas, is the eight largest Cruise ship in the world, could not be berthed in Goa. However, the berthing was delayed due to the berth not having been vacated by the ship already there and the ship could come alongside only at about 1800 hours. Now the challenge was, do we do the crew transfer that day or postpone it to the next day and in turn have a cascading effect on the subsequent disembarkation of over 2000 crew from the ANTHEM OF THE SEAS. Light drizzle continues and with our hearts in our mouths and stomach-churning, a decision was made..... to do the crew swap on that day itself. The ship was alongside at 1815 and between 1900 hours and 0130 hrs 15 shuttle buses were used to ferry the crew along with all their luggage from the OCT to the BPX pier, carry out the Immigration formalities and embark them onto the CELEBRITY INFINITY. A few hours of sleep and the teams were ready for yet another hectic day on 17 June. 55 buses with 1,145 crew belonging to every nook and corner of the country ranging from Jammu Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Gujarat to Manipur & Nagaland and were rolling on the roads. Adverse weather precluded the disembarkation of the crew as planned on the next day (18 June). The remaining 1,010 crew were then disembarked on 19 June in 52 buses in a time span of approximately 5 and a half hours. At that stage, we were monitoring over 85 to 90 buses for their stops for meals, rest, minor mechanical problems, delays at police check posts,

documentation etc. While this was in progress, the CELEBRITY INFINITY arrived at Goa on 18 June amid rain and rough weather which even resulted in a few of the ship's hawsers parting. Several changes in the plan were mandated due to the frequently changing protocols in the state as there was a sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in Goa. The COVID-19 tests were again taken for the 1,449 crew members belonging to Goa and they were allowed to stay back on board till their results were received. The next day all this crew was disembarked and dropped off to central locations in various parts of the State. While we just thought that we had a breather, we had HORIZON PULLMANTUR waiting at the anchorage to disembark yet another 65 crew. Initially planned to come alongside on 20 June, again a change of plan and we had to make arrangements to disembark the crew from the anchorage at two hoursâ€™ notice. While the teams at the Seaport were busy, we had over 700 crew of Cruise Lines flying into Mumbai and Goa on 15 and 22 June. They were accommodated in hotels, COVID-19 tests conducted and transferred to their residences. All the three ships handled during the last week belonged to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Group. Having done a total of 5,489 sign offs from three ships (with a maximum of 1,145 in one day), puts the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and J. M. Baxi & Co. in a position to bid for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. We take this opportunity to thank the Mumbai and Mormugao Port Trusts, Gammon India (for providing the OCT berth at Mumbai), the State Government of Goa and other central agencies like the Health, Immigration, CISF and Customs at both locations for their excellent support and cooperation. We also applaud the commitment and hard work of the teams of the J. M. BAXI & CO. offices in Mumbai, Goa and the Cruise Cell at the Head Office. Their impeccable planning and execution of this feat has been exemplary and doubt if it will be matched for several years to come. Picture abhi baki hai, mere dost ...... we still have about 2,000 more crew returning home by sea and air over the next few days.

Baxi & Co. at Goa undertook a smooth sign off of 1,450 Indian Seafarers stranded at sea on various Cruise ships on June 20, 2020. In addition to this J. M. Baxi & Co. has been instrumental in bringing home 1,300 crew belonging to Goa by road and air. We are grateful to some very important individuals and agencies who made this possible, who insisted that they were simply doing the job that was expected of them in this successful journey. It is normal to thank you – our nations' health workers consisting of Doctors, Nurses, Sanitary staff and other support staff, including lab technicians – for the work that they do. But we would like to add another thank you, which is more poignant now, for the work you will be called upon to do as we get through COVID-19 together. In the recent past, the Govt. of Goa has successfully repatriated over 10,000 seafarers entering Goa by road, air and sea. The Dept. of ports which is the nodal body for seafarers’ repatriation into Goa created a common platform for shipping companies to interact with various agencies who have been working tirelessly for this purpose, maintaining discipline and health care. The first in order of efforts was Dept. of Ports headed by Secretary of Ports Shri. P. S. Reddy, who always had a patient ear for genuine problems and went out of the way to help, guide and support the efforts for seafarers welfare, and tried to safeguard their interests and bring them home safely. He was always there to clarify the stand of the government firmly but with empathy, humility and compassion. The call of the CELEBRITY INFINITY to Goa would not have been possible but for the support and guidance of the Chairman Mormugao Port Trust. We are also grateful to the entire staff of Mormugao port – Mr. Jerome and his team of the Traffic Department, the Marine department team of DC Capt. Joshi, Harbour Master Capt. Arun and Capt. Rajat. The Collectors office of North and South Goa always had clear instructions and procedures in place and compliance and

permissions were given in a very short time if all regulations were being complied with. Health workers from District Health were the TRUE ANGELS who have kept us safe and all with a smile. They have worked relentlessly, and we all need to applaud them for their hard work and smiling faces knowing very well that they are at a much larger risk of being exposed to the virus. The team of doctors from Mormugao DHS led by Dr. Ira, comprising of Dr. Deepa, Dr. Vinella and many others, Dr. Jose D’Sa, Dr. Utkarsh have always been there in extending help and available round the clock. As Dr. Deepa and Dr. Vinella had said, “there’s a storm that’s approaching and we do not know exactly how hard it will hit or how long it will last and our response is to plan for the worst and work for the best”. PI Mr. Mangesh Naik from the Police dept. at Mormugao port area was always positive and ever ready to help, in maintaining disciple and ensured crowd control. Special thanks to Dy. SP South, SP South and Mr. Pankaj Singh SSP – North Goa for his guidance and timely assistance. Mention must also be made of the Bureau of Immigration team headed by superwoman Ms. Apeksha Kulkarni, who was on her feet and with hawk’s eyes, checking the documentation and complying with govt guidelines. At the same time, she was always extremely understanding of the hardships our seafarers have gone through before reaching home. CISF team who managed security of the port facility in the most efficient manner that they pride themselves on. Custom officers like Mr. Vishwas Gaigole and the team went beyond their working hours to help the returning seafarers. While it is difficult for even the most ardent optimist to stay positive, there are some signs that we are beginning to mobilize at the speed, and scale, required to lift ourselves out of this crisis quickly. All the above-mentioned people and several other unmentioned heroes have worked tirelessly when no one was looking. The whole operation in Goa was totally done by various government agencies in a manner that would put any professional corporate to shame. Thank you, Government of India,!

Shipping Minister acknowledges the contribution of Seafarers in continuing the wheels of economy moving during the pandemic NEW DELHI: Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping, participated in the celebration of International Seafarers Day, as the Chief Guest, in the ceremony hosted by the National Maritime Day Celebration Committee, via video conferencing. The theme this year for the annual Day of the Seafarer is ‘Seafarers are Key Workers”. The theme acknowledges the contribution of seafarers in maintaining the supply chain in the world, as 90% of global trade moves through sea. Shri Mandaviya released the E-souvenir and addressed the gathering, comprising of the officials of the DG Shipping, Chairperson & MD of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), officials of SCI and seafarers. Shri Mandaviya congratulated and

wished the seafarers on the International Seafarers Day. He acknowledged the contribution of Indian seafarers in the economy and development of the country. Shri Mandaviya also thanked the family of seafarers for supporting them in the challenging job. He recognized challenges faced by seafarers as professional hazards in the COVID pandemic, such as sign in and sign off, movement during lockdown. Shri Mandaviya set the target of increasing the share of Indian seafarers by 5 lakhs from 94,000 in 2014. It will create more employment opportunities as well as high paying jobs for the Indian youth. He appreciated the role of seafarers for moving the wheels of economy during the pandemic and wished

safe sailing in the future for the serving and building New India.

FIEOs views on India’s Current & Future Trade Scenario amidst Domestic & Global Challenges during Covid, Post Covid and the Way Forward NEW DELHI: Target for 2020-21 Initially, looking into the lockdown challenges and projected decline in global trade, we expected 20% decline in our exports. However, two days back, the WTO trade estimates for the second quarter puts the contraction only at 13%. We are receiving lots of enquiries from countries where anti-China sentiments are high. Many of these enquiries have been converted into orders, as well. However, the demand in employment intensive sectors like gems & jewellery, apparels, footwear, handicrafts, carpets is still a challenge. We do not expect much improvement in demand. Therefore, we expect around 10% decline in India’s exports in the current fiscal. In case of a second wave, the contraction may reach 20%. Sectors contributing to goods exports The export recovery is likely to be led by pharmaceuticals, medical & diagnostic equipment, technical textiles, agri & processed foods, plastics, chemicals and electronics. Since the domestic demand for petroleum products is extremely low, we may see increasing exports of petroleum as well for such companies to sustain in business. Strategy of Exporters in such time We are suggesting members to look into 3 pronged strategy: 1) To focus on countries which are providing demand stimulus like US, UK and many other advanced and emerging markets; 2) Explore countries having high antiChina sentiments led by US including EU, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc. and 3) Revisit economies depending on crude & commodities exports as prices of such products are likely to be subdued (Middle East, LAC and CIS) Imports Substitution We are encouraged by the statement of the Honble Prime Minister focusing on imports substitution. Imports substitution should be an integral part of the Foreign Trade Policy as dollar saved is as good as dollar earned and both generate economic activity.

While an increase in tariff can be one way to achieve it, the more effective strategy would be to provide an ecosystem which addresses the cost disability of Indian manufacturing leading to such imports. Import substitution manufacturing should attract interest subvention on credit, offsetting inland freight disadvantage besides equalization of import tariff from free trade areas. Views on Free Trade Agreements India has not been able to gain much on FTAs as these were not targeted towards our major markets. We should focus on FTAs with our major export destinations like the US and EU. A BTIA with the EU has become all the more necessary as Vietnam has signed an FTA and Investment Protection Agreement with the EU. India is competing with Vietnam in the EU market and such FTAs will give an edge to Vietnam over India particularly in apparel, leather goods, footwear, teacoffee, furniture and electronics. Though India’s exports of electronics are not substantial, but in the years to come, we can see exponential growth in electronics imports due to a lot of investments flowing into the electronic sector led by an attractive fiscal support. India-China Trade India’s exports to China grew from US$ 16.5 to US$ 16.95 Bn in 2019 while imports declined from 73.8 Bn to 68.2 Bn in 2019. With the result, the trade deficit has come down to US$ 57.3 Bn from US$ 51.25 Bn. However, at the same time, India’s trade deficit wit h Ho ng Ko ng has increased from a surplus position in one year. Our exports to Hong Kong in 2019 stood at US$ 11.5 Bn as against imports of 17.3 Bn imports with the Trade Deficit of US$ 5.8 in 2019 (against surplus of US$ 4 Bn in 2017). We need to look into the totality of trade with China & Hong Kong. Much dependence on China can be reduced with short to long term plans. India has been able to reduce its import dependence in the mobile sector and the same can be

replicated in other sectors of electronics, telecommunication and formulation of specialty in chemicals etc. We need to encourage Indian investments as well as FDI through fiscal incentive in such sectors. And last but not the least, Covid-19 has created a very challenging time for the exporters. Due to prolonged Lockdown the exporters lost the orders and suffered substantial financial loss. The working capital is almost wiped out. Under these circumstances we need the government to support the exporters. However it is with regret that we find thousands of exporters are declared “RISKY” without assigning any reason. This is most unfortunate particularly at this time when the government needs to be sympathetic and understanding. As soon as the exporter is declared RISKY by the customs, his Drawback and GST refund is stopped and all the containers are subjected to 100% check by the customs. This is leading to missing the vessels and expiry of Letter of Credits. The procedure for removing the RISKY tag is long, complicated and time consuming. This has been going on for the last 6 months and has caused irreparable loss to exporters. We have appealed to the Revenue Department that if they find any exporter RISKY, then a bond can be taken from him but under no circumstance his GST refund and other dues should be stopped. In most cases it is found that the reason for declaring RISKY is only due to some technical error in the system and for this the exporters are paying a very heavy price. We have pointed out that exporters do KYC at 3 levels, while opening the Bank Account, taking Import-Export Code and while registering with Export Promotion Councils. It is impossible that the exporter would simply vanished. There are enough investigation agencies with the government to catch the errant exporters. This is the time for the government to repose trust on the exporters and boost their morale.

Centre soon to notify export turnover threshold for MSMEs NEW DELHI: Centre will soon notify the exclusion of export turnover threshold limits for bestowing the MSME status on firms, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said. Accordingly, the move will side in identifying MSME unit under the new definition of the sector. Speaking at an EEPC India meeting held a day ago, Gadkari said that the move can be expected within two to three days. The Minister in an EEPC India statement which was issued was

quoted as saying that export turnover would not be taken into account for calculating the turnover limit in the new definition of MSME, but the gazette notification did not mention this exclusion. “The operational notification regarding exclusion of export turnover for calculating turnover limit is under legal vetting, and will be issued within two to three days,” Gadkari said, whie addressing the EEPC India members via video conference. Besides, the Minister exhorted the

engineering exporters to set up logistics parks along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway being developed by the National Highway Authority of India. He said the NHAI has decided to develop industrial clusters alongside the expressway. Gadkari also impressed upon the exporters to shift to waterways for cheaper mode of transporting cargo to the ports. Additionally, he emphasised that trucks should also shift to new fuels like LNG and CNG..

Indian exporters complain shipments stuck at China Ports NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of consignments from China reportedly facing customs hurdles at a number of ports, Indian exporters have begun reporting similar issues with their shipments to the neighbouring country. In a recent note to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), which is the apex body of export promotion councils, has said that Hong Kong and Chinese Customs were holding back export consignments from India over the last few days. This comes at a time when relations between India and China have soured following a deadly clash between their troops in Ladakh earlier this month. According to the representation made by FIEO, some exporters have reported facing hurdles with their shipments to China. An exporter in the know said a majority of the shipments stuck for clearance at China and Hong Kong include organic chemicals. “We have been given to understand

that Customs is physically examining all imports from China, which is delaying clearance, adding to the cost of imports. While we have been told there is no official communication, but the examination is leading to piling of imports as reported in many newspapers,” stated the body in its representation. “Some exporters have informed that, in response to such action, Hong Kong and Chinese Customs are also holding back export consignments from India,” it said. The body has requested the ministry to take up the matter of delayed clearances at ports in India with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and issue a denial if no instructions had been given to customs authorities here. Separately in a CII- organised ‘e-conference on leveraging eSANCHIT for stronger single window system’, CBIC Chairman M Ajit Kumar said the department was trying

to ensure bringing down time for clearances, so that prices come down and the goods become more competitive in international market. “…unless we ensure that your prices come down, unless we ensure that the time taken for clearances are brought down, it really does not help us. We are truly your partners in this endeavour of yours. We are not here merely as tax collectors, we want to ensure that your time and price both come down, you become very competitive in the international market and we must ensure that you become engines of growth. That trade leads the industry and that ultimately helps the nation in becoming strong, in becoming self-reliant, Atmanirbhar Bharat by encouraging Make in India… our attempt in this regard is to ensure that you have hassle free procedures… and then you are able to get goods, manufacture goods here, export them or get them to the domestic area without much problems,” he told CII members.

Sponge iron export to Bangladesh begins via inland waterways KOLKATA: Amid slow movement of trucks through land ports in West Bengal in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, a consignment of sponge iron weighing about 1,100 tonne has left for Bangladesh through inland waterways for the first time, an official said on Friday. Congestion at Chittagong port in Bangladesh and slow- moving trade through the Petrapole checkpost in West Bengal”s North 24 Parganas district forced exporters to explore waterways using the Indo -Bangla protocol route to send various products to the neighbouring country, he said. “The first vessel carrying 1,098 tonne of sponge iron and quartz sailed from G R jetty in Kolkata and will reach

Narayangunj, near Dhaka in Bangladesh in the next 7-8 days,” Summit Alliance Port assistant general manager Sagar Khastagir said recently. The exporter would require 55 trucks to transport such a quantity, he said. Summit Alliance is a Bangladeshi port operator working at two jetties of Inland Waterways Authority here. The first shipment will encourage Indian traders to send their sponge iron consignments to Bangladesh, he said. “We are exploring this new route to export cargo to Bangladesh. If this is successfully delivered, we will use this (riverine) route regularly,” the exporter of sponge iron Bunty Overseas director Bunty Agarwal said.

Bangladesh accounts for nearly 50 per cent of India”s direct reduced iron (DRI)exports and this product is used mostly in steel mills in the n e i g h b o u r i n g c o u n t r y, i n d u s t r y sources said. “ I f i t w o r k s s m o o t h l y, t h e convenience to send products will encourage exporters to choose the new route. Bulk cargo can reach in a single consignment,” Agarwal said. India”s sponge iron exports to Bangladesh had witnessed a sharp growth in 2019 on the back of rising steel melting capacities in the neighbouring country. Exports rose by 27 per cent from 67,124 tonne in 2018 to 8,54,251 tonne in the last year.

India's forex reserves decline by over $2 bn MUMBAI: India's foreign exchange reserves fell by $2.078 billion during the week ended June 19. According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's) weekly statistical supplement, the overall forex reserves decreased to $505.566 billion from $507.644 billion reported for the

week ended June 12. India's forex reserves comprise foreign currency assets (FCAs), gold reserves, special drawing rights (SDRs) and India's reserve position with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). On a weekly basis, FCAs, the largest component of the forex reserves, edged

lower by $1.698 billion to $467.039 billion. Similarly, the value of the country's gold reserves decreased. It fell by $358 million to $32.815 billion. Besides, the SDR value slipped by $6 million to $1.447 billion. The country's reserve position with the IMF declined by $16 million to $4.264 billion.

Trade Notice No. 16/2020-21 Sub.: Launch of new DGFT platform & Digital delivery of IEC related services-reg. As part of Digital India programme and for Ease of Doing Business, DGFT has undertaken an initiative to revamp its services delivery mechanisms to promote and facilitate foreign trade. As a step in that direction, the first phase of a new digital platform of DGFT is scheduled to Go-Live on 13th July 2020. The platform will become accessible through the existing website: https://www.dgft.gov.in 2. In the first phase, the website will be catering to the services related to the IEC issuance, modification, amendments etc. processes along with a Chatbot (a virtual assistant) catering to queries of users. Other online modules relating to Advance Authorisation, EPCG, and Exports Obligation Discharge which are part of next phase will be rolled out subsequently after the first phase stabilizes. The following important points may be noted with regard to the new platform design: i. Access to the services would be through a username and password based system. The first time logins/user ID may be created through a registration process on the new platform. ii. For user ID creation, registered mobile number/email ids of the IEC holders will be a mandatorily required. The same will be authenticated by the process of OTP/email based authentication process. iii. Users would have to link their login IDs to their specific IECs. The process of linking would be available post login through Digital Signature/Aadhaar based e-Sign. iv. Digital Signature (DSC)/Aadhaar based e-Sign will be required for applying and modifying IEC or adding or updating the IEC-linked users. Users may take necessary actions for procuring/updating their information etc. on the DSC/Aadhaar. 3. The user profile can be then used by the IEC holders to engage with DGFT and its services. This will enable the user to electronically file their application related to IEC, AA, EPCG, including amendments & redemption, monitoring the status of the application, raising queries, replying to the deficiencies etc. among other services related to the Foreign Trade policy. 4. The new platform is also designed for smooth migration of legacy (older) data of DGFT and its stakeholders. The existing data will be used for the online processing of the previous applications henceforth. The users will be able to monitor the status of their applications and the pending obligations thereof. These numerous features should significantly benefit the trade community. Users are requested to familiarize themselves about the new platform and its features. 5. DGFT RAs are directed to intimate the staff/officials about the launch of the new platform. All the staff/officials must have an NIC/GOV email ids with updated mobile numbers. The same will be used in the Back Office (BO) portal of the new platform. RAs are also directed to spread awareness about the new platform among the trade stakeholders. Staff/ Officials may also refer to the content about the platform provided to them during the training sessions. 6. It is further informed that for the purposes of go-live of first phase and the required systems configurations, the IEC applications and modification process would be suspended from 3:00 pm on 10.07.2020 till 13.07.2020. NSB committee on Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax seeks stakeholder views Cont’d. from Pg. 3

The committee noted that some earlier attempts have been made to try and commence such Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax services between two Indian ports. In fact, some of the members have first-hand knowledge in the provision of such services. However, earlier efforts to run profitable services have met with limited success. It has been decided that this

committee would specifically ascertain and prepare a report on issues relating to operations of Ro-Ro and/or RO-Pax services along the Indian coast. In order to be able to understand this option better, the Committee invites suggestions, opinions, ideas, updates of hurdles faced or likely to be faced as well as identify solutions; all of which would aid ship owners, cargo owners, ship operators, trucking companies, fleet

operators and the general trade at large to be able to carry out effective and efficient movement of cargo and passengers using RO-RO and Ro-Pax vessels. FICCI readies Five-point plan to boost Exports N EW D E L H I : “ F I C C I a n d i t s members have been supporting all the steps taken by the government in handling the standoff at Galwan Valley, and will continue to support,” Sangita Reddy, President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) said.

“While measures have been taken at the government level, it is equally important that industry also takes some actions to strengthen the government’s hand in putting ‘India first’,” Among the steps that the industry must take, FICCI has stressed on finding alternatives to supplies from a single

country - inferring to China without naming it – by looking at other countries and also procuring domestically. “We should work collectively to encourage suppliers and buyers to develop alternate globally competitive supply chains in India,” Reddy said in her letter to members.

Angré Port handles 1,38,000 metric tonnes of cargo amid lockdown • •

MUMBAI: Angré Port Private Limited, t h e m o s t sheltered allweather port in the Konkan region, has ensured continuity of essential supply chain amid the lockdown by handling 1,38,000 tonnes of different types of cargo since March 2020 till date. The port, with its end-to-end logistics services, currently supports over 20 large and small local businesses across the state of Maharashtra, ranging from sugar, cement, manufacturing and industry raw materials. Angré Port is also offering its 300 acres of industrial backup land on competitive lease models to strategic businesses such as mega warehouses, port-based industries, logistics, tank terminals, and business parks. Since its commencement in 2019, Angré Port has built several capabilities that enable hassle-free movement and storage for all types of cargo. These

include 500,000 square feet of open storage yards for receiving cargo; 200,000 square feet of covered warehousing space; and 100,000 square feet of paved open storage yards for handling sensitive cargo over extended periods of time. It also has over 32,000 Kilo Litre of liquid storage capacity. In its novel model under integrated logistics, the port has moved 80,000 tonnes of cargo during the first year of operations, with the port taking end-to-end responsibility for movement of the cargo from origin to destination. The recent strategic tie-up with Arjun Refineries at Angré, which is Ko n k a n C o a s t ’ s o n l y p o r t - b a s e d refinery, will add sustained liquid cargo volumes to the port’s output. Commenting on the development, Mr. Eshaan Lazarus, Executive Director, Angré Port Private Limited, said, “We are proud of the fact that Angré Port is among the few ports that have ensured continuity of exports during the lockdown. It is a testament to our commitment to fostering economic growth in the Konkan region. We work

as an end-to-end port operator for our clients, ensuring timely and safe movement of their cargo, and helping them optimize their material handling cost. Our performance in H1 2020 has been good, with handling 2,41,000 MT of cargo, and we are aiming for 4,00,000 MT cargo in H2 2020 considering post COVID-19 forecasts.” Angré Port is well-equipped to provide top-notch marine, cargo and storage facilities, and in-house services that enable clients to enjoy a singlewindow, end-to-end service from the port right up to their factories or markets. Angré Port’s unique location offers natural breakwaters in the form of hills on three sides, resulting in tranquil waters even at the peak of the southwest monsoons. This distinction has helped it become the first private cruise port in India, hosting India’s largest cruise vessel operated by Jalesh Cruises. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2,000-passenger cruise made monthly trips from Mumbai to Angré, boosting the local tourism business in Konkan.
