One World Logistics Ltd. is taking care of this as it falls under last mile delivery business. The Company started this business with Flipkart in the month of September 2019 with 1 Hub and grown up to around 80 Hubs serving around 381 Pin codes of 11 States (Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu & Haryana) with Shipment count of around 30K per day. Port of Antwerp-Bruges : Throughput rises 1.4% in H1 ANTWERP: The total throughput of Port of AntwerpBr uges was 147.2 million tonnes in the first six months of this year, an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period last year. Given the current geopolitical and macroeconomic context, this slight growth, despite a decline in the container segment due to ongoing global congestion problems, confirms its strengthened position as a unified port. Container segment under constant pressure Container throughput is down 9.8% in tonnes and 6.2% in TEU compared to a strong first half in 2021. With globally disrupted container liner shipping, vessel delays and high volumes of import cargo, the container trade continues to face operational challenges. Moreover, the throughput of containers related to Russia decreased by 39% due to the conflict in Ukraine. Conventional general cargo grew strongly by 22% in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2021 and recorded the highest throughput volume since 2011. The main reason for this is the increase in imports of steel, the most important cargo group in this segment. Steel imports from Russia banned by sanctions are being replaced by imports from other countries. Other product groups, such as wood, plywood and fruit, are also showing growth. Roll-on/roll- off traffic saw an increase of 8.9%. RoRo traffic to the United Kingdom and Ireland shows significant growth, with 3.8 million tonnes and 0.6 million tonnes respectively, up 6.8% and 47% compared with the first six months of 2021. The number of new and used cars shows a slight growth of 2.5% and 1.7%, while the number of trucks decreased by 19%. The Dry Bulk segment grew by 17.6%. Fertilizers, after a strong 2021, experienced a loss in throughput (-15.4%), largely due to the sanctions imposed on Russia. The throughput of sand, gravel, non-ferrous ores and scrap metal also recorded losses after 6 months.

While only 933,000 tonnes of coal were handled in 2021, throughput after 6 months in 2022 is already 1.56 million tonnes due to the sharp increase in gas prices and reduced gas supplies from Russia. Within the Liquid Bulk segment (+16.5%), there is pronounced growth in gasoline, naphtha and energy gases. Although the throughput of diesel and fuel oil has been steadily declining since 2019, it grew by 10,4% in the first 6 months of this year. Throughput of other oil derivatives and chemicals also grew by 9.9% and 12,3% respectively. With a throughput of 8.4 million tons, the most important growth is for LNG (+55.3%), because, in addition to the transshipment function of the LNG terminal, European countries are now also busy replenishing gas stocks in the run-up to next winter. These figures confirm that we are stronger together as a unified port. The context continues to pose significant challenges, especially in the container segment. Thanks to the merger, we can now offer two complementary platforms as a unified port, significantly strengthening our position in the international logistics chain and as one of the main gateways to Europe." Annick De Ridder, Vice-Mayor of the City of Antwerp and President of the Board of Directors of Port of Antwerp-Bruges: "Despite a difficult geopolitical and macro-economic context, this unified port is standing as the economic engine of Flanders. This is proven by the growth compared to the same period last year in cargo handling, roll-on/roll-off traffic, dry and liquid bulk and the particularly strong increase in conventional general cargo (21.8%) with even the highest throughput volume in 10 years. This compensates for the decline in container handling. At the same time, these figures make it clear that additional container capacity and investments in strategic infrastructure are indispensable in order to secure our position as a world port."

APSEZ building Integrated Transport Utility Platform to enhance Logistics capabilities MUMBAI: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) is building an Integrated Transport Utility Platform (ITUP) for customers as India’s biggest private port operator gets ready with a digital tool to help become the Country’s largest transport utility. “We now intend to emerge as the largest transport utility in India, and for that we are materially increasing our logistics capabilities, while also integrating Industry 4.0 into our operations,” Karan Adani, Chief Executive Officer, APSEZ said in the firm’s annual report for FY22. A key feature of our integrated utility model is digitalization and automation, Karan said. “To strengthen our digital footprint and to ensure seamless connectivity between our ports and other logistics infrastructure arms, we are developing an Integrated Transport Utility Platform (ITUP) for customers,” he stated. The ITUP platform, while being built for end-to-end connectivity, will measure productivity of activities and record deviations in real-time. It will act as a marketplace for all customers and suppliers that provides complete visibility on the entire chain of custody of consignments, logistics cost options, delivery time and carbon footprint, among others. The system will empower customers with decision making and complete transparency leading to the ease of doing business, Karan said. At the Government level, the NICDC Logistics Data Services Ltd (NLDS) will soon roll out the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) seeking to enhance efficiency and reduce the logistics cost by creating a transparent, one window platform that can provide real-time information to all stakeholders. NLDS is an equal joint venture between the Union Government represented by the National Industrial Corridor Development and

Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and Japanese IT major NEC Corporation. APSEZ runs a network of 12 Port Terminals across India’s coastline and has always compared its operational performance with the dozen ports owned by the Union Government. The 12 Port Ter minals of Mr. Karan Adani APSEZ have a capacity to handle 538 million tonnes (mt) of cargo a year while the dozen State-owned ports are ahead in capacity with 1,560.61 mt. APSEZ handled 312 mt of cargo in FY22 at a capacity utilisation of 58 percent compared to 720.346 mt handled by the 12 publicly owned ports. “In three years, we expect to grow our cargo volumes by 60 percent to 500 mt as we target to emerge as the world’s largest port operator and India’s largest transport utility by 2030,” Karan said. India’s overall exports grow by 23% in June; Exports growth in 1st quarter over 25% NEW DELHI - India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in June 2022 are estimated to be USD 64.91 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 22.95 per cent over the same period last year. The overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in the 1st quarter of FY 22-23 (April-June 2022) are estimated to be USD 189.93 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 25.16 per cent over the same period last. The overall imports in June 2022 are estimated to be USD 82.42 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 55.72 per cent over the same period last year. In the 1st quarter of the FY22-23, the overall exports are estimated to be USD 235.11 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 49.41 per cent over the same period last year. MERCHANDISE TRADE • Merchandise exports in June 2022 were USD 40.13 Billion, as compared to USD 32.49 Billion in June 2021, exhibiting a positive growth of 23.52 per cent. • Merchandise imports in June 2022 were USD 66.31 Billion, which is an increase of 57.55 per cent over imports of USD 42.09 Billion in June 2021. • The merchandise trade deficit in June 2022 was estimated at USD 26.18 Billion as against USD 9.60 Billion in June 2021, which is an increase of 172.72 per cent. • Merchandise exports for the period April-June 2022 were USD 118.96 Billion as against USD 95.54 Billion during the period April-June 2021, registering a positive growth of 24.51 per cent. • Merchandise imports for the period April-June 2022 were USD 189.76 Billion as against USD 126.96 Billion during the period April-June 2021, registering a positive growth of 49.47 per cent. • The merchandise trade deficit for April-June 2022 was estimated at USD 70.80 Billion as against USD 31.42 Billion in April-June 2021, which is an increase of 125.34 per cent. • Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports in June 2022 were USD 27.94 Billion, registering a positive growth of 8.65 per cent over non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports of USD 25.71 Billion in June 2021. • Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports were USD 38.53 Billion in June 2022 with a positive growth of 38.30 per cent over Nonpetroleum, non-gems & jewellery imports of USD 27.86

Billion in June 2021. • Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports during April-June 2022 was USD 83.62 Billion, an increase of 13.81 per cent over non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports of USD 73.47 Billion in April-June 2021. • Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports were USD 108.97 Billion in AprilJune 2022, recording a positive growth of 34.80 per cent, as compared to Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery imports of USD 80.83 Billion in April-June 2021.

SERVICES TRADE • The estimated value of services export for June 2022 is USD 24.77 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 22.04 per cent vis-a-vis June 2021 (USD 20.30 Billion). • The estimated value of services import for June 2022 is USD 16.11 Billion exhibiting a positive growth of 48.62 per cent vis-à-vis June 2021 (USD 10.84 Billion). • The services trade balance in June 2022 is estimated at USD 8.67 Billion, which is a decline of 8.41 per cent over June 2021 (USD 9.46 Billion). • The estimated value of services export for April-June 2022 is USD 70.97 Billion, exhibiting a positive growth of 26.25 per cent vis-a-vis April-June 2021 (USD 56.22 Billion). • The estimated value of services imports for April-June 2022 is USD 45.35 Billion exhibiting a positive growth of 49.15 per cent vis-à-vis April-June 2021 (USD 30.41 Billion). • The services trade balance for April-June 2022 is estimated at USD 25.62 Billion as against USD 25.81 Billion in April-June 2021, which is a decline of 0.74 per cent.

Exports in June rises amidst rising Global uncertainties: FIEO President NEW DELHI - Reacting to monthly Trade Data for June 2022, FIEO President, Dr A Sakthivel said that exports of USD 40.13 billion with a growth of 23.52 percent, yet again indicates the strength of the export sector amidst challenging ongoing geopolitical and rising global uncertainties. While growth of over 24 percent with USD 118.96 billion exports during the first quarter of FY 22-23, shows the commitment and hard work of exporters to achieve newer and newer remarkable milestones. FIEO President said that the top sectors, which led the exports growth during the month were Petroleum Products, Gems & Jewellery, Electronic Goods, RMG of all Textiles, Rice, Engineering Goods and Organic & Inorganic Chemicals etc. Labour-intensive sectors also contributed to the exports basket, which itself is a good sign, further helping job creation in the country. FIEO Chief also reiterated that the benefits of the newly signed FTAs and the PLI Scheme will further help us in

building as we continue to move ahead during the fiscal. Imports growth of over 57 percent is of concern and has been mainly on account of Petroleum Products; Coal, Coke and Briquettes; Gold; Electronic Goods; Organic and Inorganic Chemicals and Artificial resins, plastic materials etc. which may be looked into. However, he added that rising imports of gold may lead to impressive gems & jewellery exports in the coming months. Crude prices have also added to the import bill of Petroleum Products, thereby to the import basket of the country. FIEO President is of the view that though the Government has announced a slew of measures to support exports, however, there is a need to further push value-added exports, augment container manufacturing, developing an Indian Shipping Line of global repute, increase the validity of RoSCTL and RoDTEP scrips to 24 months and link transferability with realisation, extend RoDTEP to EOUs, SEZ and Advance Authorisation, expand usages of RoDTEP and RoSCTL scrips and logistics support for the sector looking at the higher freight cost.

Govt extends RoSCTL scheme till March 2024

for exports of Apparel / Garments NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has authorised the continuation of the Scheme for Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) with the same rates as announced by the Ministry of Textiles for exports of apparel/garments and made-ups until March 31, 2024 in an effort to increase exports and generate employment in the textile industry. Chairman AEPC (Apparel Export Promotion Council), Naren Goenka said, “RoSCTL is a forward-looking and growth-oriented scheme which has provided a stable and predictable policy regime, helping boost exports and employment. The scheme helped improve cost efficiency and the export competitiveness in the international market. It has also promoted incubation of start-ups & entrepreneurs in the domain and also led to the large number of MSMEs joining the apparel export business.” The RoSL (Rebate of State Levies) initiative was superseded by the new RoSCTL (Rebate of State and Central Taxes Levies) scheme in March 2019 following the implementation of GST in 2017. An initiative called the Rebate of State and Central Levies and Taxes (RoSCTL) Scheme aims to reimburse all embedded State and Central Taxes/Levies for exports of manufactured goods and garments. Importer-Exporter Codes (IECs) are necessary in order to apply for the RoSCTL programme. To enhance the productivity of the garment and made-up sectors, it has been established as a successor for the old “Rebate of State Levies (RoSL) Scheme” to rebate all

embedded State and Central Taxes and Levies. As per the website of Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE) the national portal of Indian Customs of Central Board of Indirect Taxes, “The scheme intends to compensate the State and Central Taxes and Levies in addition to the Duty Drawback Scheme on export of apparel/ garments and Made-ups by way of rebate. The Rebate of State Taxes and Levies includes VAT on fuel used in transportation, captive power, farm sector, mandi tax, duty of electricity, stamp duty on export documents, embedded SGST paid on inputs such as pesticides, fertilizers etc. used in production of raw cotton, purchases from unregistered dealers, coal used in production of electricity and inputs for transport sector. However, the Rebate of Central Taxes and Levies includes central excise duty on fuel used in transportation, embedded CGST paid on inputs such as pesticides, fertilizer etc. used in production of raw cotton, purchases from unregistered dealers, inputs for transport sector and embedded CGST and Compensation Cess on coal used in production of electricity.” “All exporters of garments/Apparels and made-ups manufactured in India are eligible to take benefit under this scheme except entities/ IECs under the Denied Entity List of the DGFT. Further RoSCTL benefit is available subject to the facts that the exporter has not claimed RoDTEP benefits. Such exporter may either be the merchant or manufacturer exporter. However, such goods should have been directly exported by such person,” ICEGATE has said.

India-Russia INSTC route to pick-up in trade volumes from next month NEW DELHI : A significant volume of trade is set to be registered by the INSTC, India’s 7,200-km long alternate trade route to Russia through the Iranian deserts, from July onwards, as more Indian retailers begin to export goods to Russia soon and raw materials like coal and fertilisers flow the other way around, officials said. “A large number of American, European and Japanese firms have left the sanctions-hit country and Indian companies are keen to take their place. We are facilitating all queries on a priority basis,” an official said. Once the volumes hit a specific level, a virtuous cycle of investment and awareness is expected to make the route more popular and less expensive, they said. The INSTC is India’s grand plan to cut short the time taken for trade shipments to reach Russia and Europe, and enter the central Asian markets, and vice versa. It incorporates thousands of kilometres of all-weather highways from the Iranian port of Chabahar in the south, through Azerbaijan in the north, and onwards to Russia and Europe. However, the newly-expected flow of goods is also anticipated to flow through the eastern section of the corridor, which has a rail line connecting Russia with Iran through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Russian firm RZD Logistics last week confirmed it had begun sending container trains to India through this route. The first rail transit cargo entered Iran on Tuesday, 12th July through the Sarakhs border crossing, Iranian media has reported. The 39 containers being carried by train left Chekhov station near Moscow on July 6 and have travelled 3,800 kilometers as of Tuesday, 12th July. It will have to cross a further 1,600 km till it reaches the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, from where it will be shipped to Mumbai. Back on track After a long pause, Russia had officially expedited talks to quickly operationalise the INSTC earlier this year after the Ukraine war began and Moscow was hit with a barrage of international financial and monetary sanctions. Meanwhile, the transcontinental trade route also became a core point of discussion during the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to Delhi in May, officials said. A monitoring group for operational issues was to be formed by officials of both nations to ease a series of issues at

the Shahid Beheshti terminal of the Chabahar port in Iran. The terminal is one of two at Chabahar, Iran’s only ocean port. It has been developed by India, which formally took over operations in December 2018. India’s exports to Russia stood at $3.24 billion in 2021-22, up from the pre-pandemic figure of $3 billion. Meanwhile, imports from the country have risen to $9.86 billion, of which $5.25 billion was crude oil, processed petroleum, and coal. Total imports stood at $7 billion in 2019-20. “While crude oil will continue to be shipped by sea, the INSTC would be crucial for bringing more coal from Russia,” a Commerce Department official said. In the first two months (April-May) of the ongoing 2022-23 year, coal imports from Russia more than tripled to $516 million, up from $167 million in the corresponding months of the previous financial year. The growth is evenly spread across the anthracite, bituminous, coking and steam coal varieties, data shows. Fertiliser imports from Russia will also benefit from the overland route. Imports have risen nearly 10 times to $344.5 million in April-May 2022-23 from just $38 million in the same period of the previous year. Long-term viability The route is also part of India’s overall efforts to establish greater connectivity and trade with the high-potential markets of the adjoining Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, officials say. “This grouping of ex-Soviet nations spread across East Europe and Central Asia often have had tenuous relations with the West in the past, and have increasingly hiked their imports from China. After the Ukraine crisis, western penetration in the area is set to decrease further,” he added. Eight of the nine CIS nations are now part of the INSTC, along with Oman, Syria and Bulgaria. The Federation of Freight Forwarders Association of India, which had conducted the first dry run through Azerbaijan back in 2014, had initially pegged six months as the time required to popularise the new route after it opened. But difficulties over the lack of loan facilities from banks on this route, inadequate insurance coverage for bill of lading, non-vessel operating common carrier, as well as irregular shipping services to Iran had slowed the process.

Israel sells Haifa Port to Adani Ports, Israel’s Gadot for $1.2 billion MUMBAI : Israel recently said that it will sell Haifa Port, a major trade hub on its Mediterranean coast, to winning bidders Adani Ports of India and local chemicals and logistics group Gadot for 4.1 billion shekels ($1.18 billion). Gadot and Adani made it to the end of a two-year tender process that Israel hopes will lower import prices and help shorten notoriously long wait times at Israeli harbors. “The privatization of the port of Haifa will increase competition at the ports and lower the cost of living,” Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman said. Adani will have a majority 70% stake and Gadot will hold the remaining 30%, according to an industry official. “Delighted to win the tender … Immense strategic and historical significance for both nations!” Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani wrote on Twitter. Global supply chains have been hit over the past year by lack of staffing at ports, lockdowns and a strain on available ships for hire as vessels get stuck due to congestion in many parts of the world. About 98% of all goods move in and out of Israel by sea and the government has been upgrading the sector to maintain economic growth. Haifa, surrounded by the Carmel mountains to the East which limit winds and choppy waters, has operated as a port for centuries. Today, it is Israel’s leading deep water port and handled about half the country’s freight volume in 2021.

Warming ties with neighbouring Arab countries are also creating new trade opportunities for Israel and Haifa is well placed to become a regional hub, as well as a link between Asia and Europe. UAE to invest $2bn investment in Indian ‘Food Parks’ to ease shortages NEW DELHI : The United Arab Emirates has pledged $2 billion to help develop a series of “Food Parks” in India to tackle food insecurity in South Asia and the Middle East, the UAE, India, the United States and Israel said recently. The idea is to bring farmers, processors and retailers together in one place using the latest climate technology to minimise waste, conserve water and maximise crop yields. The four countries would also advance renewable energy projects in India, they said in a statement. “U.S. and Israeli private sectors will be invited to lend their expertise and offer innovative solutions that contribute to the overall sustainability of the project,” the statement said. The announcement came ahead of a virtual summit held by U.S. President Joe Biden with UAE, Israeli and Indian leaders that was set to focus on food security and clean energy amid fears of global food shortages caused by the war in Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine are the world’s third and fourth largest grain exporters, respectively, while Russia

is also a key fuel and fertiliser exporter. The war has disrupted their exports, pushed world food prices to record levels and triggered protests in developing countries already contending with elevated food prices due to COVID-related supply chain disruptions.

Coal imports in India hit record high in June NEW DELHI : India’s coal imports hit a record high in June despite high global prices, data from three trade sources and Refinitiv ship tracking showed, as economic activity picked up and amid a domestic shortage of the fuel. India imported over 25 million tonnes of thermal coal and coking coal in June, rising by over a third compared with the same period last year, data from consultancies Coalmint and Kpler, and trader I-Energy Natural Resources showed. Imports of thermal coal – used mainly in electricity generation – jumped to 19.6 million tonnes, while shipments of coking coal – used in steelmaking – rose to about 5.4 million tonnes, Coalmint and I-energy data showed. Coal accounts for nearly three-fourths of India’s power output, and utilities account for over 75% of India’s coal consumption. The energy-hungry nation’s annual power demand is growing at the fastest rate in at least 38 years and high global coal prices, amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, are straining the finances of debt-laden government-run utilities. Thermal coal imports

jumped 40%, while imports of coking coal surged 23%, data from India-based trader I-Energy showed. Coal shipments from top supplier Indonesia more than tripled to a record 14.5 million tonnes, while imports of coal from Russia nearly doubled to 1.2 million tonnes, Kpler data showed. The imports included thermal, coking, PCI coal and anthracite. Shipments from other top suppliers Australia and South Africa were lower compared with the same period last year but higher compared with imports in May, the Kpler data showed. Imports from the United States fell to the lowest in four months. Indian coal imports are expected to increase in the coming months. State-run Coal India has placed orders to ship in at least 12 million tonnes over the next twelve months to address shortfalls at utilities. Indonesia expects higher demand from India. Total imports in the Jan-June period were 119.5 million tonnes, 0.6% lower than 2019, the data showed.

WTO should allow food exports from public stocks: FM Sitharaman at G20 NEW DELHI : Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman said at a seminar on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and central bank Governors meeting in Bali recently that India should be allowed to export foodgrains from its public stockholding to countries facing a hunger crisis, something which is in contravention of current World Trade Organization (WTO) rules to ensure global food security. WTO rules bar countries from exporting foodgrain from public stockholdings as it is subsidised, and may distort international prices. This was also a key Indian demand at the 12th WTO Ministerial conference in Geneva last month. However, the proposal did not make it to the package deal agreed by the 164 member-nations. “WTO restricts grains so procured to be brought to the market for exports. It is a condition that has existed since the Uruguay Round days. We have repeatedly said more than (in excess of) what we have for our small farmers, who need the ration…we are quite willing to trade that, so that in

this context, hunger and food insecurity can be addressed,’’ Sitharaman said. Several countries have been hit by food shortages due to supply chain disruptions caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. However, there is still hesitation in the WTO on accepting this proposal, Sitharaman said while addressing a seminar on ‘Strengthening global collaboration for tackling food insecurity’. While supplies through the World Food Programme is “one little success”, more was required to be done to allow countries to supply those who “desperately” need food, she added. “This is the time for us to review so that we do not take exogenous shocks on issues like hunger, on food. I can understand if there is a problem with fuel—I keep worrying about it—but that’s an issue (for) afterwards… The first is to get food to the poor.” Last month, WTO members decided that export restrictions imposed by countries cannot apply to food procurement by the UN’s World Food Programme.

South India Ports log surge in Traffic as Ships skip crisis-hit Sri Lanka NEW DELHI : The political turmoil and fuel crisis in Sri Lanka are turning out to be an opportunity for ports in South India, which are seeing a surge in traffic. Industry bodies said at least 10 per cent of normal cargo is being diverted from Sri Lanka to Indian ports due to multiple reasons like congestion and shortage in fuel availability. Kochi International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) in Vallarpadam has seen a 37 per cent surge in transhipment and 14 per cent rise in container traffic during the first three months of the financial year. A similar rise has been seen in the traffic of Ennore and VO Chidambaranar, too, which was 25 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively. “A good chunk of the normal cargo is getting diverted to Cochin and Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi. Non-availability of fuel is the basic issue in Colombo. However, this is an opportunity for the Indian ports,” said S Narasimhan, President, IndiaAsean-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Under normal conditions, Colombo Port used to handle over 30 per cent of India’s container traffic and 60 per cent of its trans-shipment. In the case of ICTT, transhipment traffic increased from 26,698 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) during the first quarter of 2021-22 to 36,627 TEU during the first quarter of 2022-23.

“A lot of ships are skipping Colombo now. In July, our port saw a rise in transhipment traffic by around 31 per cent compared to the same time last financial year,” said a source from Cochin Port. In a Transhipment Terminal, a cargo or container is moved from one vessel to another while in transit to its final destination. “This is advantageous for both ports in South India and those ports in major manufacturing states. Some of the main line operators and container operators may look at alternatives in India now, considering the long-term advantage, if the crisis intensifies,” said Jagannarayan Padmanabhan, Director, Transport and Logistics at CRISIL. During the first quarter of the cur rent financial year, 12 Major Ports across the Countr y have seen an average 9 per cent increase in traffic. Several ports, including Ennore, Chidambaranar, Cochin, Paradip, Mumbai and Jawaharlal Nehr u Port Authority (JNPA) saw double-digit growth during the quarter under review. Among commodities, coal saw around 19 per cent rise, while container traffic grew by an average 5 per cent across all the ports.

India's exports up 16.22 % during May-June to UAE after FTA implementation NEW DELHI - After implementation of a free trade agreement, India's exports to the UAE rose by 16.22 per cent to $837.14 million during May-June this year, sources said. Exports during the same period of the previous year stood at $720.31 million. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries came into force from May 1. Under the pact, domestic exporters from various sectors like textiles, agriculture, dry fruits, gems and jewellery are getting duty-free access to the UAE market. "India's exports to UAE which were in negative growth trajectory post the outbreak of Covid-19 to April 2022 have witnessed a rebound since May 2022, that is, post the

signing of the agreement," the sources said. Post the signing of the CEPA, exports grew by 16.22 per cent to USD 837.14 million in May-June 2022, one of the sources said. Shipments of plain gold jewellery increased by 62 per cent and 59 per cent in May and June to USD 135.27 million and USD 185.78 million, respectively. Colin Shah, Chairman, GJEPC (Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council), said that plain gold jewellery exports have been the immediate beneficiary of the India-UAE CEPA. "I urge all exporters to maximise their returns and make optimum use of the benefits available through this pact," he has said.
